here is an unedited shot I took this evening as the sun was setting over Harveston Lake in Temecula (CA). it started getting dark quick and the sutter speed was 1/64th so it's not very sharp, flew 2 packs and only got 2 decent shots.

rich.

Very fine work Mr Mark. Did your son get to work the cam again? Pretty soon he'll be running the heli and you can snap pics...

No, the schedule required us to shoot this one on a weekday. Plus, he got in BIG trouble and got put in in-school suspension last week. That cost him. I've been wanting him to get a haircut, well, his Mama hauled him down and got him a descent trim. At least he looks like a boy again.

I ordered some brochures from http://gotprint.net which should've been here Friday, but UPS is blaming "weather" for the delay. Weather?! Between here and Burbank CA? Right. They offer 500 for $139.

It's finally raining, so I'm going to spend the day finishing up my website. I've got some marketing ideas ready to try out as soon as my brochures arrive.

I did a pano from my mast that I had printed at Staples to try out their printing service.

The printed size was 36X12 for $25.00. I had them print, laminate, and mount it on foamboard. It's freakin' awesome. I've got a photo album with my best 8X12's in it and this pano. I'm going to start knocking on doors next week.

About 48' on a bird-shots.com mast. I'm working on finishing up a new lighter gimbal with your carbon fiber frames so I can go all the way to 55' with my Rebel XT camera.

I mounted the camera in portrait mode and this image was made from 9 seperate images. Now if I can perfect it from under my helis, that would be cool.

Do you have a photo of your camera mast setup on your vehicle Mark? I bet I am not the only one who would be interested to see your mast setup.

Thanks in advance!!

We were using it to video a Control Line combat event with the Sony HC1 in Houston.

We're selling the DVD, here's a link to the trailer...( 4:00 minutes, 25 MB) There are several shots from the pole in the trailer.

My first attempts at AP at my flying club's new field. I'm still getting use to the heli and the camera angles.

Looks like you're having no problems with the camera angles.

Everything looks nice and level and framed nicely. Good job.

How does it feel to be addicted now?

It is a rush, thats for sure. I basicly took off, hovered up and starting taking pics. I got about 7 or 8 good pics out of 35. I didn't think that was too bad.

Thanks for the compliments.

That picture was actually a composite of two pictures to get the full depth of the development. I was using a point-and-shoot Panasonic DMC-LX1 set on wide 16:9 using shutter priority - 320th @ 5.6, ISO 80 lifted with a Swift heli.

I like the pics but sure miss my 20d... and am thinking about selling my GSR gasser and switching to a slightly larger electric to carry the 20d around. Sure I can take the gasser out but I took these shots on the edge of a neighborhood at around 2:30pm. No one even noticed I was there I was so quiet. The gasser ALWAYS draws a crowd.

I'm still getting use to the heli and trying to figure out the camera. The pictures are just not turning out sharp like I hoped.

What camera are you using and what settings?

The contrast is horrible. It's the visual equivalent of turning both the bass and treble down and listening to midrange. Looks like underexposed shots that are getting pushed up electronically.

Turn OFF any anti-shake (at least as a test - while there's probably a camera out there to prove me wrong, 99.9% of them will make a picture worse when mounted on a heli with any vibrations at all)

Set the ISO to 200 if it's a point & shoot (optio, A620, coolpix, etc) or 400 of it's a DSLR

If I remember right off the top of my head, in a well-lit daytime situation (which those pics are) a standard exposure should be 1/125, F8, ISO 100 By going to ISO 200 (or 400) you'll be able to crank that up to 1/250 or 1/500 without lowering the fstop. Dropping to F5.6 should get you another doubling of the shutter (1/500 to 1/1000) and that should get you into the ballpark you need to be looking at...
