When done properly, the case of both supplies shares the same ground as the AC as well as the charger's ground. The supplies come with the case grounded on both the AC and DC sides. To run them in series the ground on the second supply must be disabled (side that provides the 24v positive). What you are describing sounds normal.

Im using only one PSU (12v)... but i see only way is changing my wireing ,unfortunately its impossible .

Default ICharger 208B Needs >12vdc

According to the specs my ICharger 208B needs up around 17vdc to achieve the 350 watt rating. Is there another server power supply available that has the higher voltage?

Not that I'm aware of. Server supplies typically output 12V; even the ones that can be adjusted to provide a slightly-higher voltage would be unlikely to go to 17V.

Because the 208B can handle up to 32V, I'd suggest just adding a second supply, and going to 24V, if you need the extra power.

Default Does anyone know what can I do to fix this?

Hi,

I have just finished my project and got very disappointed

I shorted 6-9-10 and also tried 6-8-10 with a 370Ωpotentiometer between 3 and 9.

Both configurations work with fan in top speed and then shut down after a few minutes charging in parallel 2 6s 5000mAh 40C at 7Ah.

Does anyone know what can I do to fix this?

Not that it really matters for my application since I have a 306B (I *could* use 3 12v supplies in series IF I wanted...), but how does it work if you have, say a 106B with a max 18V input, but you want to max that out but only have 2 12V PS (for a total of 24v)?

Do you have to limit the voltage before inputting it to the charger, or does a typical icharger or FMA bleed off that extra voltage on its own?

Nope. You just add a second set of outputs to the first supply, to provide a 12V source. And, at 12V, you will not be able to get the full 250W out of the charger (you'd get more like 220W).

Chargers will not deal well with supplying voltage higher than their input spec range. A PowerLab might be able to survive a small over-voltage, but please don't provide any charger with higher voltage than the specs allow for. The odds are good you'll damage the charger.

I do have a 106B+, and a 24V server supply setup. I need to feed the 106B+ from just the first supply, for 12V, or I'll kill it with 24V.

Lowering the 24V to 18V or below, reliably, ensuring it will be safe for the charger, is difficult.

Okay, so you'd just need to find 2 9V power supplies in series or a single PS that supplies 18v (if those even exist) or have enough electrical knowledge to reliably limit the PS voltage.

Just a quick search for 18v PS's, I found some 18v units that output a whopping 3amps, so that's not nearly enough for charging lipos.

So that begs the question, why do chargers have inputs in non- 12volt intervals?

I assume it's cost reasons. 18V (the limit for my 106B+) is kind of obnoxious Not high enough for 24V, not even high enough to let you use a Dell 19.5V laptop power supply.

The 106B+ will reach its 250W max output from 15V or higher. So you don't need all of 18V. Which helps a little with looking for power supplies. But still doesn't make it easy. I gave up trying to reach the full 250W from mine. I can get about 220V.

9V, high-wattage supplies that can safely be wired in series are also probably tricky to find.

I've heard mention recently of using LED power supplies from eBay. No experience with them myself. But they are 12V nominal, with output voltage that is apparently adjustable (I saw no mention of how far, though, in one eBay listing), available in different current/watt configurations.

It says 12V, adjustable +/- 10%. So that would get you to 13.2V. Not much better, but a little higher than 12V, at least.

I should mention that my DPS-600PBs actually put out 12.5V, not 12V. And I had one adjusted up to 13.2V when it was only running my 106B+. But when I tried pulling more current, with my 308Duo, the supply would start shutting down, until I lowered the output voltage to 12.7V.

Yeah, I looked around on ProgressiveRC and their PRC500 is 500W at 15v, and the Junsi S1200 is adjustable (apparently infinitely?) from 11.5 to 24.5v. So that 's pretty cool.

So they do apparently exist, but it's kind of hard to justify a $270 PS just to max out a 106B, when you could get a 306B and a couple DPS-600's for less.

My laptop power supply is only like 4.6 amps... So that's enough to charge my AGM or my 1s lipos, but not much else.
