Wow, think I would have been cleaning out my shorts after seeing a heli that large flip like that in front of me, sounds like you or your spotter was pretty impressed! Great looking bird!

Will you be using the white main rotor blades you got with the kit at a later time? Looks like Rotortech's on it now?

I had some S/H Carbontech's which I haven't tried before and I thought they'd look good with the canopy so on they went - they're very nice so I might be a bit slow in changing them to the Rigids !

I think blades that are more neutral like Maniac or Radix will suit the Vbar better. The one's your using now are leading more if I can remember it right.

You can`t buy it in any store.
It has to be orderd from Jan Henseleit and the list is long... If you sign up now you can get it next summer probably...

Interesting observation Laurens - so far the CarbonTechs look and sound great and I haven't found any shortcomings in their performance - I'll try and get a 3D 'Pro' to give her a workout and we'll see

Its probably not something you will feel, but the servo's and Vbar have a lot more work to do.

I think this is the point of the optimizer in VBAR 4, it makes all blades perform well, you will however get a bit more comfort at high speeds with heavier blades.

Just a little video we shot yesterday - have to get serious with the camera as this is a really difficult heli to film - sounds good though
Had a hard landing in the week from a tail rotor strike - took 2 mins to change the tail spindle !! Unfortunately cracked the struts & some lower CF frame uprights but some CA has fixed them up enough till the spares arrive. Tried the SAB Red Devil 710s - a bit rough - changed to CY Radix 710 FAI blades - wow what a difference - ran smooth as if on rails !! The Pyro is awesome - hardly gets warm - I'd say 40-50°C in 30°C ambient temp. The Turnigy batteries as well also working out really well.

Was it during an auto the tail was damaged? Sounds good about the pyro temps. Seems to have good power!
For me the TDR seems to be ticking all the boxes, everything running at low temps, good power, motor that lasts, TT (no belt tensioning), low maintenance! Keep the vids and pics coming. |

No Michael - I was having fun doing low flips - very controllable heli and gives a lot of confidence !! Clipped the tail blades and she started to piro (proable loss of HS in retrospect) and I flicked TH and she went down a bit hard from about 2m with a low HS so hard landing. Not too much damage then - after repair I had two goes at spool up and very unstable tail - close inspection showed the gyro sensor lead had come out of the VB control unit and as I had pigtailed the lead it had retracted back into the frame ie I did two hovers without ANY gyro! Reading the fine print JH does mention to hot glue the sensor plug and this is what I ended up doing

Hi all,
I have seen the TDR flying in real life and it is just ! Have never seen a better piece of heli before.... I have read somewhere that especially for the Three Dee Rigid a new class of flying was founded. The "Drag Race" and it´s damn fun as far as I have seen. As I can´t afford a TDR, I am just proud to be from germany too, like this bird What´s the headspeed you are running the TDR on? I will never forget the blade sound, as it is
