TRM PUH 26 question
I lost my instruction manual to my engine. What is the idea rpm range for the engine. Right now I am running it around 13000 rmp. Should I go up or down from this rpm. I am running a 6.4 gear ratio.
For some reason, I remembered 13.5K being the right number. This would put me a little over 2000 rpm on the head. Would a 6.8 gear ratio be better for the engine. I am running amsoil saber 100 synthetic at around 40:1. Would it hurt the motor to change to a different oil. It this a good ratio or should I go to around 50:1. I like the oil, I just found another oil that is more available. Thanks, Harlan |

You are in the right range. there is no set rpm per say to run it at, if the head speed is where you want it and motor is happy awesome. f you don't like high head speeds and want to keep it down but keep the motor in the sweet spot then you can change it if you want.
It is really not a good idea to change oils after the motor gets acclimated to it, I don't like using the breakin oil like we do but it would take a long time on pure synthetic. If you have to make the change be carful. let the motor run at idle for a while before bringing up the rpms and then keep it on the low side of rpms for at least a tank. stick with 40:1, the difference in ratio is minimal but if you tuning is off you can have hurt it easier. Peace, Al |
