Default Battery Dilemas

I'm new - so I'm in the newbie forum.

So, I have a Blade SR and I flew it after charging my battery fully. I did a quick 30 minute first test flight, crashed (of course) and stopped. The battery sat on the copter for a few days and when I fixed it and tried charging the battery again the charger kept giving me an error signal.

I assumed I messed up the battery and got a new one. A back up is good either way, I thought. So, I put the new battery on the charger and a few days passed. I went to fly the copter today and found that someone had unplugged my battery/charger. When I plugged it in again I got the same error lights and now I think I broke my second battery.

Any advice would be great - I have no clue what I'm doing.

Battery is an E-flite Lithium Polymer Battery, 3S 11.1V 1000mAh (11 Wh) - 15C (15 Amp) Maximum Continuous Discharge - it looks like this - http://www.bladehelis.com/Products/D...rodID=EFLB0996

jfx......
No doubt you've over-discharged that first battery and it won't take a charge.....
30 MINUTE flight....??? That's a LONG time for any one battery to power a heli!!!
At any rate......you say you left the (discharged....) battery on the heli for "a few days...."
Li-Po batteries need to be charged/stored/handled MUCH differently than other battery types...Google "Handling Li-Po batteries" and read the MANY "How-To" articles.....
Li-Po batteries aren't really "harder" to work with....they just require their own set of "rules"....once you're in the "groove", you'll find they're no harder to deal with than any other battery type....
Be especially mindful of BALANCING multi-cell batteries...a proper balancing-type charger is ESSENTIAL for keeping Li-Po's operating at peak efficiency and lifespan.....I use an iCharger i106 for my 1S batts and a Thunder Power TP610 for larger stuff....Either unit will charge both large and small, but I just don't like to monkey with settings, so I use one charger for big, one for small!!!
Follow the advise in the "How-To"s......and success will be yours!!
Good Luck!
Happy Flying!!

Yes, that is waaaay to long to fly and SR on that battery. You should probably fly it for no longer than 5 to 6 minutes. Plus you can get better batteries, cheaper that the Eflite brand which I consider junk batteries. But that's just my opinion.

I run Blue and Sky LiPo's in all my helis except for my mCPX and MQX. THey are really good batteries and are well priced.

maybe its the charger and not the batteries. Which charger are you using? Just saying maybe you should check the batteries with a different charger before writing them off. I bought a relatively inexpensive Thunder AC6 and its been working great with a number of different batteries both 1S and 3S. I have different cables for different batteries. use the storage mode to leave batteries about half charged when you are not using them.

Leave the cells of the battery at 3.85 volts each for storage. That is optimal.

Default big thanks, a better charger?

First off - Thanks to everyone who posted here. I have a lot more to learn about batteries, that much is clear.

The charger that comes with the Blade SR isn't very full featured. It has some leads and two blinking lights (red and green). It doesn't have any settings for specific voltages, or any adjustments - just a plug and a lead for the battery. It seems like I need a better charger - any suggestions?

That first flight, that I described as 30 minutes, was probably more like 5 minutes of actual flight with a lot of spinning, adjusting and crashing.

Thanks again - anxious to get flying for real.

I have blade sr with 5 lipos and parallel charging ... The 5 batterys will charge within an hour. You need to unplug ur packs as soon as their finished also. Fully, not just from the wall.
All you did was overcharge the second one probably, and wrecked the other one. Get training gear and take it slow. I spent over 200.00 the first 2 weeks i had my sr on parts. Stay in my comfort zone now :-)

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=16678 Heres the batteys I roll. Very cheap and stock. I dont push the envelope as I dont wanna replace the motor and 2in1 thats not worth a bigger battery to me.

I have three SR's as my practice machines. I have only the stock chargers that came with them and the stock batteries. over the past 8 months I've recharged and flown about 700 packs with this stock setup. Follow the suggestions of others here, but the stock charger works fine if used appropriately.
