Default My Odin 90E conversion frames

Well I can't seem to wait till Febuary for a 7HV so I had this Odin kit just doing nothing. So Me and my buddy Gerry Graham decided to design conversion frames to make the Odin electric. The frames are being cut this week and should have the heli semi finished this weekend. Waiting on a few electronics. I have pics of the frames so I will post them. Anybody that wants the cad drawing let me know I will email them to any body that wants them. Click on the thumbnail and you will see them. There also is the drawing for the motor mount made from aluminium.

Well its coming together. I will post pics even though nobody was very interested.

This has been by far the most money I have spent. With blades, Kontronik jive esc and pyro 700-45 motor.

When it is done I will have a very light Odin 90E. Also Odin parts are pretty cheap. I used every compass part I could.

Do you have a picture of the motor mount?

I am planning on a 7HV, but have a spare Odin sitting here waiting for me to assemble it.

Electric conversion sounds like a great idea!

Look at my drawings. The motor mount is being cut monday. They messed up and cut it out of 1/8 instead of 1/4" aluminium. It goes the same place as a 6hv.

Thank you!

I did not realize there was a drawing in the first thumbnail. It just looks like a solid, black rectangle when I look at it on the computer.

Thank you for pointing that out!

Wow very nice!
I too just saw a black image at first.
Your frame design is very unique but will also keep the heli even lighter and retain the high CG.
Great

Hi Jason,

great stuff man, isn't the frame based on the shape of the Castle Creations guys' TREX 700 frame ?? Seems a bit similar, looking forward to see some more pics and vids

Grtz,
Dirk

I think they might look close but my motor is on the bottom. I do not have my motor mount yet. We were going to put the motor on top but servo placement would not work. I think the cg should be really good sisnce the batteries are high up. I am mounting servos right now.

BTW anybody ever use the press in nuts they work like a champ.

You had better have that thing flying by the time the Austin Heli Fest rolls around in April!

The frames are .093" I believe. They were cnc laser cut out from our drawings. I have no idea how much it cost to cut. The material was around $105.00. My friend who designed these has a deal with the owner of the shop that did the cutting. I have averything almost ready to fly. This week or weekend it should be ready. I had to have another motor mount cut yesterday because I broke a 3mm tap in one of the holes. Dam cheap (and brittle) taps. I got the new plate tapped and on the heli. Just need to work out the ESC and battery mounting. Will post some pics when its all together.

Alan don't worry I will be ready for Austin!!

JLH1,

I am very interested in how the ship flies-I have an Odin II (O.S. .91) and it flies great. Your machine should have even more power.

Weather permitting this weekend I wil fly her. I can't wait! The helicopter ended up weighing a little less than 9lbs RTF. Should be really good.
