I know its a versatile machine, but I find it interesting the folks who cut it down to 716 and run it that way. I feel the 766 was built as really an 800 heli cut down to 766 already. Everything on it is soo damn beefy.

The guys running the 716 configuration have a mid 12 close to 13lb heli but prefer high headspeed vs. lighter disk loading?

E7 for reference is a mid 11 lb machine in 716 configuration.. but certainly I wouldn't stretch one to 750+ because its built as 700 class machine.

I was honestly considering the E7se, but then when I factored in the price of two battery trays and turnbuckle swash links, I thought I might as well go with 766. I also found it strange that one has to re-pin the tail on E7se to run 716mm blades. I need a 700, so just trying to choose between the two.

I want to run 716mm blades, that I know for sure. So maybe E7se is a better option (can also run it on 130A HobbyWing V4).

766 has wider bolt spacing than E7se, so as a result it has larger disc and hence even with the added weight, with 716mm blades the disc loading is still light.

Yeah, I run it at 1800 and 1950, I've really gotten to love lower headspeeds this year. It flys light, not Nitro light, but lighter loading than other big electrics I've flown.

Same here that is why I am building another 766.. Love how they fly at lower headspeeds..

Sorry for the delay. I think my top speed for the stock pinion was around 2100. Now I'm running 1950, 2030, and 2170. Might bring idle 1 down to 1900, but getting great times even at that speed.
