Default My iTunes account got hacked!

DAMN IT! Some crap hole hacked my iTunes account! I had to do a password reset to get it back. Thank GOD I never registered a credit card! So to whoever used it, you can eat my shorts! You got nothing! HA! I have another iTunes account that is far more secure that I use for purchases.

Stupid hackers THAT HACK TO STEAL MONEY! YOU SUCK!

It pisses me off someone would do that. The user name and password I used on a few forums JUST recently I signed up on were the same as my unsecure iTunes account. Some admin I am pretty sure used it. One of the forums I recently signed up with like yesterday I am pretty sure DID!….

DO NOT THINK a forum Admin can be trusted! I know Will James can for sure but realize some people setup forums as It's another way of Pishing user information in my opinion!

Be unique EVERYWHERE you sign up on a forum. Give NO CLUES…. I did not this time because I was in such a hurry for information I just said "Ah the hell with that I will not remember all my user names and password so lets use the same one". BAD IDEA!

So be careful out there folks! There would be no way otherwise that I can think of that someone could figure out my iTunes password OTHER than they got it from me with the same Email addy and password I used to sign up to a Forum recently! LESSON LEARNED. So then they used that info and logged into my iTunes account and changed my password. Stupid!

Freakin FLAKES…. and LOOSERS……….. GROW UP! That seriously is stupid! Hacking for the good of others like what I have been doing to root Android ROMs is one thing. The courts have already ruled Jailbreaking or Rooting is not illegal!
Hacking so you can steal from people is just wrong man! It pisses me off. Trust that if someone actually stole from me, I would track you down! Some way some how but I would NOT give up until I did! You have no idea if you mess with me…..

Damn LOOSERS!

OK I am off my rant…
Bob

P.S. Will James.. no worry... my password used here has never been used ANYWHERE EVER... It is unique. But now I am worried I have to go around and change my password all over the place in other forums I signed up to recently (Android OS and iOS forums)

Bob

Always good advice to not reuse passwords. There are some handy browser plugins that will always randomly generate a new password for every web site.

The sad thing is that this should not be necessary. If developers coded their site with real security in mind, it would never transmit your typed password to the server. Maybe in the future, the browsers will detect this and start warning people.

Also, any site that can email you your current password, has the worst security. Since that means they are sending and storing your clear passwords. In that case, you really want to make sure that password is not being used anywhere else.

I use 1Password on the mac.

It generates long complex passwords.

Hackers suck.

Sorry to hear Bob. It depends on the forum software. On vBulletin the passwords are hashed and cannot be retrieved short of using some kind of brute force encryption breaking software. I cannot recover a members PW, I just have to reset it to something else for them if they loose it.

Very sorry to hear about your vids John. It is a shame you cannot change the gmail account they were linked to before deleting your old email account.

One thing that learned was sign off of iTunes when you are not specifically buying music. I had just updated to the newest version of iTunes, so that might have been part of it.

iTunes is usless anyway.... I still go out and buy CD's the old way, call it having the back up.

I can give one bit of advice for purchases online

Never Eve use a personal credit or debit card online

the SAFEST way is how I do it... go to a place like Wal-Mart and get you one of those pre paid credit cards.... there is very little personal info connecting you to that card.

and by no means go online and use a credit card to add to it, go right to the store intead

Yes, but the bank is required to pay for any fraudulent transaction on a CC or debit. I think the max you have to pay is like $50, as long as you report it within certain time.

Sorry, Bob. I know how it feels when that happens to you. A few years back someone got ahold of my debit card info and drained my checking account at some store in France. I got the money back eventually but I felt much more violated that it was my actual bank account as opposed to a credit card.

I got my iTunes account hacked and had £75 of credit on there. They spent it all on some Chinese in game purchases.

Got it all back after having a knightmare of a time as they said to me "we don't refund" and they could not understand why I kept getting angry lol.

Merry Christmas

it's not the same with a pre paid, there is no bank account linked, really just whatever amount is put on the card.... so if it has like say 50.00 dollars that's all they can get, no more. and not all cc have fraudulent transaction insurance........

like I said, I do all my online stuff with a pre paid card, no muss no fuss.... and really no worries of a bank account getting wiped out

You have more risk w a prepaid card. With a credit card you are fully protected under the law, it's called the uniform commercial code. Never use a debit card nor allow a vendor to debit your accounts. There are elaborate protections for credit card holders and bank account holders and the minute you authorize a vendor to debit your accounts, you are outside of these protections. I work in the industry and I know what rights consumers have. Always, pay w a credit card, never debit. Use online bill paying, never allow a vendor to take money. You might have noticed that federal and state taxing authorities are trying to phase out checks, they want your account numbers. Guess why, they can reach in and take and you have no say. No good.

you may think you have alot of protection with a bank account or credit card, but not really. there are allways ways around them if someoone wants your info bad enough. or maybe just enough to get account for themselves with you info.

any info you pt out there on the net, even if it's 128 bit can be had by anyone with enough determination.

pre paid is so mch easier, and no risk involved.... say I want to spend x amont on the net.... that's all that's on the card. and there is none of my own info connected to it, no account #, no SS# yo can't get much safer than that

Sorry to hear about P/W theft Bob. This may not be the total answer but, assuming you are running some version of Windows, have a look at RoboForm (it may run under some other OS's as well). Stores your P/W in an encrypted format, you just have to remember 1 P/W (also stored encrypted) to log into your various sites. Most importantly it can be set up to generate very long, unique and totally nonsensical P/W. It also has form-filling capabilities among other features. Free for personal use, with some limitations. Check it out - you'll be glad you did !

Something similar happened to me just before christmas. My bank got a notice about it and informed me, the card was reset and i got my money back. Thing is that the only place my card is registered is with apple. One would think that it would be fairly safe considering how dependent they are on online commerce..

Man that sucks, I got hit just after new years and yesterday both two seperate accounts with seperate banks.
The lady i spoke to on the phone said she has two accounts with two seperate cards, not linked. She only puts the exact money in from one to the other when she purchases things that way there is no way anyone can take money out after the purchase.
At least I know the bank detection service is working.
I .'ve gone through and changed all my passwords now and everyone is different, such a pain to remember them all, i'll be checking out roboform for sure.

What do you think about PayPal ?:

Do you feel that it is safe to use for payments ?

Safe when you get their security key.

It's a good $35 investment. My paypal got hacked a few years ago, I've been using the security key since then.

You get an electronic key/token that displays a 6 digit number when you press the button, the number is generated based on an algorithm that's tied to the serial number of the key... the serial number is only known to you and PayPal, so only the person with the token can make purchases or access the account.
