It was hurting my flying because I was more afraid to crash it than I am my 7HV. The DL frames do not hold up well in a crash and often take out your batteries too as flyingman found out. On the other hand the 7HV crashes well and batteries are mostly protected. The DL frames do fly great though but there is definitely a trade off with strength to get the light weight.

I can back up what Mr Nice Guy said. My packs went "crunch" after "smash" and before they looked like road kill.

The frame broke in 3 places where the skids attach, and around the motor mount. I will look to see if I have pictures of the results. The heli is a blast to fly. It is so light and powerful. I had a castle ICE 2 120 with an Align 530kv motor. I was using the slant gear and Voltz 65c 6s 5100mah packs. I traded weight for durability when I switched to the 7HV. Now that I hardly crash I have actually been thinking of trading in my 7HV for another DL frame heli pieced together.

The fact that he wants another really says something about the heli!

"....and you want another one?"

Ya I have been thinking about it. You don't have any parts left from your old one do you?

Anybody else running V2 (not DFC) head with a BeastX gyro on this frame?

I have about 100 flights or so on a pair of these awesome DL birds. Mine weigh in at about 10.2 and 10.4 lbs, and I have settled in on 690 Mavrikk blades of about 190g. 710 CYE and Mav both made it a little harder to "keep down" if that makes any sense, and any heavier than 185-190g just seemed to make it work too hard. Light bird!

So for grins, I'm going to convert one to 800 now. (can't have everything working right at once, now can I?!) Anyway, I have ordered the following:

750MX 450kV - w/11T - target 1700 HS
Align 800 boom stretch kit
Edge 813 (great deal from another freak) - may switch to Align 800s though.
4.95 ratio auto gear
KDE V2 counter bearing
Align tail pitch slider upgrade
10 x 19 x 5 blade grip bearing replacement set.

I anticipate hauling some metal around in the front until I find the right size battery to balance it. That will be phase two.

One immediate disappointment is that the tail pitch control rod is way too short. I guess I have my tail servo pointing in the wrong direction or something. Anyway, I like the rod, so I'm going to try to cannibalize the hardware from it and bastardize it onto longer carbon tubes. Otherwise, seems GTG...
