You mean changing modes? Not exactly sure on that one.

The 10 is not software upgradeable, it doesn't have an SD card.

Right, but I've never found a need for more than 5 points ... in fact, all of my helis would be fine with 2 points

I always thought that 5 points is exactly the number you need to setup everything right. 7 points are more or less useless for throttle and pitch curves on helis, right?

Well, yes, but I fly airplanes too. They can require more mixes. I fly vBar on my helis and they require zero mixes. It all depends how future-proof you want to be.

With the 5 points being adjustable left/right, I'm finding I can get almost any type of mix I need... I prefer it to a 7-13 point mix. My 12Z has a LOT of points.

Go to model menu and then "condition". Assign a switch to the HOLD (generally the 2 positions switch at the back). Check that it is "on" when the switch is towards you.

You should be good to go. You can adjust the level of throttle hold (get it lower or higher) for instance on a nitro you don't want your engine to quit on hold so you can ajust it in the dedicated throtte hold menu. On an electric you can leave it alone and the ESC should arm while on throttle hold and spool up when out of it (use soft start). Throttle hold back on should power the motor down. Test without blades on or pinion disengaged.

Trottle cut primarily is to shut off a nitro engine. You use throttle hold to auto and start, throttle cut to well... cut the engine. It is generally a button or momentary switch

On an electric you only want / need to use Throttle hold to start and cut the motor, no need for throttle cut

I always backup just to be safe, but it is not needed.

successful update to ver. 4.1
I am pleased with the new feature, considering I have a T-rex's family 450,500,550..and it's still growing

I use both as a double safety on electrics... Especially the large ones. My son flipped throttle hold off on someone's 450 once... Yikes. I've also seen people hit their throttle hold switch on their jackets while walking to the flightline before. Yikes.

The diff between throttle cut and hold...

Throttle hold will activate at any throttle position, and will deactivate at any throttle position.

Throttle cut will only activate once the throttle stick hits bottom, and will only deactivate when the throttle stick hits bottom.

In other words, with throttle cut on and the stick at 50%, you can shut off both the hold and cut switches and the motor still will not start until the throttle stick is brought to full low... In essence, it's a triple safety.

It's also very useful for adjusting vBar bank settings that are tied to flight modes. In order to access the different banks with the radio, you need to turn throttle hold off. The throttle cut lets you do this without starting the motor.

Yes, for a nitro you program hold for idle and cut to kill the motor, but applications for electrics are there and very useful as well.

True, but maybe a bit over the top for new guys IMO. Learning respect for the TH switch is good.

OT: you can select the bank to edit in vbar software without having to switch the TX

I'm having problems with a GY401. When I plug the battery in, the gyro initalizes and then the rudder servo will drift to one side. I can find no trim or mixes on channel 4 or 5. The gyro menu is in ACVS mode. Any ideas?

It's normal for the rudder servo to drift to one side in ACVS (HH)( mode on any gyro(inc 401) in this mode - in normal mode the servo should stick in dead centre and only move in response to movement

I have never noticed the rudder servo drift on the GY401, unless there was some sort of stick movement...or trim.

Why am I getting 3 choices, rudder, aileron and elevator, on the gyro menu? Is this something to do with FBL? If so, how did it get there?

I went in a created a new model and there's only one item on the gyro menu....rudder. If need be, I can try to take a picture to explain what I'm seeing.
