Does any one know a good place for custom paint for helicopter canopies?

E640 painting canopies
I've not found anyone that has unpainted 640 canopies, or custom painted canopies :-(
I use the orange'ish N640 canopy because of my old eyes. Century also sells a higher visibility green E640 canopy

I know several that have had canopys painted by SickCanopys, very nice but a few bucks and like distructor mentioned you would have to send your painted one to them and they would have to strip or sand it down. You would have a real expensive canopy when it was done but you would also have one of a kind !

Those are nice, and not a bad price either.

I have two E640s and I have purchased one of those green canopies already and it's really nice to fly with.
So I have two stock blue canopies that I would like to change the color on. but it's starting to look like it will cost more that just getting another green canopy. I might have to give it a try with a rattle can and see what happens! :-) Charles |

For a decent paint job, unless you are doing it yourself, it will certainly cost more to have someone else do it. When I used to paint them I would put in $20-30 in materials alone, then anywhere from 8-20 hours of work depending on the paint job.
I would just use your blue ones as beaters, or try to sell them. Part of the reason I stopped painting is because I cannot compete with the big boys selling an entire canopy painted for what i would pay just to get a blank.

E640 painting canopies
Agree. Did that with my stock Protos canopy. Got a custom, and painted the stock one to be a very rough facsimile. Use as my beater.

I am planing to mask off all the blue areas on mine, and paint the top ones fluorescent red or orange, and the bottom on fluorescent green. This will leave all the white/silver areas that have the wordings intact.

If you want to paint over the lettering I could fire up the vinyl cutter and send you new graphics, then you can place them where you want, and I can cut them in different colors/fonts.
