Default To 3g or not to 3g?

Hello everyone. I obtained a 450x in need of a fbl unit. And I have a lead on one for next to nothing. I will be using it with a ar6100e and dx6i. I want to know how good this unit is and what I need to know as a first time user owner?

Thanks

Got two 3G units, one on a 500 and 550 running 2.1 and both work great. The gp780 gyro mounting kit with the metal plate works best. Mounted on the base plate.

When you talk about mounting your referring to an align bird tho right? I'm going to be using on a blade 450 x which comes with a beastx so mounting and extra wiring (external rx vs internal) is something I'm concerned about .. is the 3g easy to use / set up ...?

Thanks.

I think the 3G is very straight forward for setup. It's more straight forward than the 3GX even IMHO.

The nice thing about the 3G is the separate sensor, which is slightly smaller than the average tail gyro. You can place it easily where the BeastX was, and mount the controler anywhere.

The down side is, the separate sensor and it's bulkier when you take the control unit in to account.

I just stuck it to the side of my 450 Pro for easy access when programming.

I bought mine used, but it was in very good condition.

The cable that goes between the sensor and the main unit can get loose after several rounds of setup and tweaking. The previous owner had set it up on multiple helis, and I had a few rounds myself...

A little Goop, or hot glue or glue of your choice will make sure it doesn't come unplugged... but that's 'best practice' for anything really. Or a new cable is $5-$10

So then the separate sensor is the gyros I'm assuming?

The sensor unit has the gyro sensors, yes.

But without the main unit... the sensors don't make a functional gyro.

Hey I have the 3GX to on the 450s and the 3GX works well on them. Same basic steps as the 3G for setup with some additional and the tail holds better.

I can say one thing about both my 3Gs, going from 60deg. climate to the 90s makes me run threw setup real quick or I get a tiny bit of drift.

Here ya go 3GX vers. 3G. All though the wiring and the AR7000 on the 550 got moved there's lots more clutter with all the wires

I'll say the same as the others on here..

My 700E flys great with the 3G System on it..My friends keep asking me why I don't change it to the Newer stuff but I can't find a reason too..

Got a question on hooking the 3g up. I'm using an ar6100e with the 3g . Which has, thro, aile, elev, rudd, gear, and auxiliary 1. Now I know elev, aile, and rudd go the the matching output on The rx. But then there is the Sen wire that splits from rud and pit that spits from elev. I don't know where those 2 go on the rx? And since those are one wire what direction so they plug In to the 3 pins?

Thanks in advanced

Gear, single yellow goes to gear for tail gyro gain and the orange labeled, pit goes to aux
