I've been using the new tank for about a fortnight now and while I'm only doing mild 3D I just wanted to say that for me the new tank would get 5/5.

It didn't take long to install, plus didn't leak when inverted and it looks like it was designed for purpose, which of course it was! I thought the old tank (while functional) let down what is a without a doubt a top of the line precision 3D heli. Thanks to Eric and everyone involved in taking it through R & D and into the stores. Cheers.

Is it Ok to use a fuel magnet with Muffler pressure setup(Will it last, and how long roughly)?

Do you set it up the same way as a regular clunk so it just missis the other side of the tank?

Cheers Dave

Dave
The word is that the exhaust does eat the sponge.
With the tank being square, it obviously doesn't reach all corners and relies on the fuel magnet to do so.

Dave,
Yes you set the fuel magnet up the same way you do a regular clunk. Due to its shape it may not be able to reach into every corner. As long as you have it where it reaches the majority of the tank area if will be OK. Once the fuel magnet foam is soaked with foam it is as heavy as any clunk would be.

Now using the fuel magnet with exhaust pressure. It is possible to do and get a long life out of the foam. It just takes more work. When using muffler pressure, as soon as the flight is over and the tank is empty. Refill the tank . Then purges all the exhaust gases out of the tank. This is what detriorates the foam on the fuel magnet is the exhaust gases. You can either leave the tank filled or you can pump the fuel back out. All you want to do is push the left over exhaust gases out of the tank. I know several guys that use the fuel magnet with exhaust pressure and this is how they do it. They have good results with the foam having a long life.

Thanks for the replys, This answers my question and I am going to get one as soon as I can.
Something else I noticed is that in my fuel bottle its always the top of the pickp line thats goes soft and falls apart as its exposed to fuel vapour as the bottle empties, would this be what gets into the clunk lines? actual fuel vapour!
If so it might be worth leaving the fuel tank full like DavidH said all the time for that reason also.

Dave,
Yes it is the exhaust gas that deterioates the fuel line also the tank. With a closed loop system I change the fuel line in the tank about once a year or every 30 or so gallons. Also the foam on the fuel magnet. This is system like the YS and Cline systems.

Woohoo today i went to test flight the heli with the new fuel tank with 75mm tube inside.

It was able to suck out all the fuel. Upright, Inverted all around there was no leak.

I give this new fuel tank a 5/5. It is so easy to install the nipple . Also i didnt need to remove any parts or screws from the heli to install it.

No worries

The old skids are straight but the new ones are 'bent' forward

just one side is it, the struts ?

126 – 116 left front
126 – 117 left rear
126 – 118 right front
126 - 129 right rear

What do i mean left and right is that if you are sitting inside the heli.

Hmm are you talking about the 'long long' one with the Stratus name printed on it ? if yes,

126 - 115 right skids
126 - 114 left skids (50% sure, please double check)

You might want to double check the left one. =) But the rest i am 100% sure i have given you the right part number. As i have order them before

But if you are going to order all of the 6, you can just get #126-111. it comes with all the 6 pieces. But with out the "A" metal thing.
