Default Receiver choice

I just picked up a Synergy N5c so my R7008SB receiver will be moving from the Trex 450 to the Synergy and I need a replacement for the 450. There are quite a few choices in Futaba receivers. Which would be the most cost effective / appropriate for the Trex 450?? (eventually to be traded for a 500-sized heli.) Also, is anyone successfully using an 'orange box' on a smaller heli?

Oh, I'm using the Futaba 14SG Radio and VBar.

I've been using the 6202 without any problems for quite a while now. It doesn't have telemetry, however. If you want that feature, you will need a 7003 or 7008.

Just be aware-of some-of the reported-problems with the R7003SB, I know that these were early-versions but not sure if this has been resolved (?)

What kind of problems with the R7003SB? I have 3 of them from the first release.

Thanks in advance,
Doug

I will have to do some digging to get you the links, IIRC I ran across these in the Hense' Forum where guys were having problems with the R7003SB's on Speed Machines.

Not trying to shoot-down the product, just wanted to give as much info as possible.

I remember first reading about it here ;
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=516179

Couldn't remember all the details off-hand,

Thanks Costas for the added info.

The R7003 appears to have a design issue whereby the SBUS port cannot pull down the output signal to ground correctly.

You can get around it by adding a resistor between the signal pin and ground on the SBUS port.

Note that this does not affect all devices which use this particular rx and the SBUS port - only some devices.

One that is affected is the Mikado VBAR unit.

You can read about it here: http://www.vstabi.info/forum/read.php?26,103259

Thanks guys! this is good to know. I guess I haven’t notice anything since I don’t use V-BAR unit, I use the R7003SB with the CGY750 and with the BeastX with no issues.

Thanks again,
Doug
