I had a good day though! I loved the head speed the HDX 3550 w/13T can throw once you hit the switch! I get to do a build during "build season" Thanks again Brian looks like I'll be needing those blades sooner than I expected! Parts are arriving Monday all I had to order was a plastic frame, booms(for the push rod rings but my boom is unharmed),and new bearings for the main shaft. A flight outside was worth the carnage. I've waited so long for this day.

That is the beauty of the much maligned plastic frame, Its cheap I think mine must be getting near retirement age, It has several cracks in it that hve been carefully repaired with good quality cyano.

Sorry to hear about the crash Chad, but as Brian said you have got away pretty cheaply. That's not a bad repair bill considering the appearance. You'll have her up in the air again in no time. Glad to hear that you had a good day.
BTW, going back to a previously unanswered question, yes it was a 13T pinion on the EXI vid. I was running with a throttle curve of 80 90 100, so I guess if I had put it onto a flat 100, for say ST 2 it would have popped even a little quicker.

Bad news about the crash'n'carnage Chad. Seem to remember my frame parting due to higher headspeed........

Not sure if the crash being so cheap was a good thing? If had cost more I would have went for the EXI instead but there's always next time! Im slightly cheesed about the taco'ed lipo as it was my most expensive one.
Yea Sutty I loved watching that thing "pop" it really zips! Mine comes close to that but I think the scorpion has a lot more torque than the HDX 3550!

Had a good days flying today for the first time for weeks
Thanks to Gerds charger and the fact that I now have a working sim I am starting to improve again. A couple of 4 batteries today in moderate wind cold fingers but able to throw the heli around with more precision and recover it more easily from all kinds of attitudes. Looking forwards to my new heli

Hi everyone, my parts arrived for my little 300 Axe cp the other day. The Axe cp is my first bird and she has sustained so many crashes and rebuilds that I gave her the nickname "Wobblie" she had gotton so bad that trying to control her was a full time job, the only person I know who could even hover her under control was Ryan and even he said it was with much effort. Well I like chalenges so I decided to rebuild her from the skids up. I had just enough used and new parts to do it, and after spending a whole day and setting her up as best I could, it was time to give her a try so off to the backyard to spin her up, well I was so happy as she spun up with no vibrations and hovered like a 600 class bird! (not really but pretty good for a 300) so I decided to replace all the used parts with new ones and have a little fun with her. Since the other day I have flown out a dozen packs, working on my hovers and It's so nice to finish out flying without any crashes! Flying the smaller helis is quite a task and I find that when I go back to my 450s I find that my skills have jumped up a notch!

Nice going Gerry.
I finally had some free time and ran a couple batts thru my Walker 4-3q. Mika was right, once I popped it up out of ground effect I was really surprised by how stable it is. I really love the little bird! Unfortunately the the stock Tx is daft. Hey Mika - did you say you're using your DX6i with your 4-3? I had a couple heavy "landings" on the third batt. The canopy is in the Christmas tree somewhere.

I actually quite like the stock transmitter. Feels better than Esky, and it already has the JST plug for a small LiPo when you lift the battery tray out. For some reason I can't get the picture to load right now, but I can tell you're getting into the spirit of things

Hey Guys, just me checking in again.
Having problems installing new phone software  the pic and video will have to wait a while longer. To summarise...it look's a bit like chad's crashed bird but a CF frame version :YeaBaby: Will be almost a complete re-build including frame, so think i will replace it with a copterx or xheli kit. It will probably be cheaper than buying a new CF belt frame and all the other spares on my list. Plus, it'll save me having to do a DTS mod everytime I need a new upper frame. Anyway, I'm just about to start my t-rex re-build....santa got me the CNC mounting blocks I asked for , so I should have enough to get one heli going again. Other than that, my re-decorate-the-house-a-thon continue's, but is finally nearing completion (only 1 & 1/2 room's to go), then the baby arrive's in only 6 weeks!! Not long to go! Thankfully I got some time off this week, so I'll be back online soon. Take care & safe landings to all for 2009 :D Denis

Hi Denis!
Sorry to hear about your pieces. I hope you had a nice Christmas/Boxing day! Well I saw my dad over X-mas and he decided that the aluminum would bend too easy on the cnc strut mounts. So he is going to make them out of cnc Delrin(same stuff as the MHMG) which he picked up already! They should "finally" be ready by the next time I see him! Do you still want a pair?

Hi Chad (& Jack),
Will do & hope your both having a good holiday too this year. My X-mas eve ended up a drunken affair Day was spent with family Boxing at shops after baby stuff Yesterday decorating Today decorating At least next 2 days will be HELI'S!!! Chad - I've thought it through, and I guess I won't be needing them anymore. My Belt-Cp has finally received it's last ever upgrade!!! I'm off to check funds available & deals on the CopterX 450ME, as I guess I will be able to use my CNC copterx head & tail from the belt on it. Thanks again to you and your dad for the offer though. I'll be back 2m, I gotta get on with that t-rex build, or I'll have nothing to fly new years day!!! 1 mph wind forecast & sunny!!

Well I can't say there's anything wrong with that! The CopterX looks great! I was real tempted by the EXI but repairing the Belt was the "cheaper option." I'll just have to send them to someone else to try. Good luck with the rebuild on the Rex! I should get my parts tomorrow and be building away too!
CRETEUS! Would you like a pair of cnc Delrin strut mount blocks (the ones that hold your skids on) for your carbon frame?

Hi Guys, Just crashed my EXI, but thankfully all is well. I was making a video using a new method of attaching my flycamone, using elastic bands, to lessen the distortion caused by vibration. Sadly the video stopped before the crash, so I can't show it to you, but I was really proud of myself. At 50 feet I lost the tail completely. Uncontrolled spinning with no tail at all, but I managed to keep it level and bring it down slowly, still level and I put it down, on the skids with a slight bump, which only disloged the canopy.
Damage report: Tail drive gear is not functioning at all, it is just spinning on its shaft, and I have lost a canopy grommet. Not bad eh. Anyway, here is the question, what do I get to replace the dodgy tail drive gear, which has only lasted about 8 and a half flights. Do I presume that because it is a clone of a Trex I can get one to suit that? What about this: http://www.heliguy.com/Electric-RC-H...rive-Gear-Set/ Thanks in advance guys.

Sounds like you got away lightly. Yes that works. It was what I used for a while, but all you need is the little chrome gear pulley, the other T-Rex stuff will not work with your Esky stuff. And you dispense with the awkward retaining circlip!!!!!!!!!!!!
I glued it onto the shaft and it held totally. You can also use the CopterX pulley which comes with the tail shaft. http://www.ehirobo.com/shop/product_...oducts_id=4792 I am using that on my H-Rex at the moment. No worries, mate. Mike

Ta Mike, It isn't Esky though, it is my EXI, which I am just stripping down now to take a look at the item in question.
