thinking of e5 12s 4400 pulse pack hk4035-560

I have everything already and was thinking of building my second e5 on the above spec.

My first one has 4025-1100 and flies on 6s 4400.


What do you think flight time would be on the 12s?

I'm more sport big air stuff...

I get about 4.5mins on the 6s setup 556 rails...

So basically I'm just changing the motor and batts on the 2nd one.

With 3300mah 12cell on my e5 I come down at 3.8-3.9v per cell after 4.5 min. To storage charge my packs they have to discharge down to 3.85v per cell most times. 5 min should be easily achieved with 4400 packs if not longer. I would guess around the 6 min mark.

Do you fly hard 3d? Because when I push my 6s setup I land at 3.7v at about 3.5 to 4min from the 4400mah pack.

I just need to get a longer shaft for my hkiii4035-560kv

The kde long shaft for this motor is not available and the scorpion shaft is gold at 35$. Lol...

Looks like not much of a gain compared to the 6s setup? I will prolly fly about 6-7mins which would be the flight time out of 2 6s batts.


Do you have stretched to 600 size?

What made you decide to go 12s?

I was stretched at the first but am non stretched at the moment. Eventually I will buy the parts to stretch it again.

I would be able to tell on the flight times. On my original kit a link broke and wrote it off on the maide . I had some parts for non stretch so I used them for the rebuild.

I run my standard E5 on 12S (556mm), but I am using two OpitPower 2700mAh packs. On my stretched E5 I am using two OptiPower 3500mAh packs. Two 4400s would look to me to be very heavy flying on both configurations, just my two cents... I am only using 4300-4500 in the E7se, 12S 5000 in the E7se flys a tad heavy to me. I tend to get 4:30-5:00 in these configurations, but I do keep my head speeds towards the high end...

I thought I was on the heavy side.... Lol... Hopefully I can get maybe 8-10mins of flight at around 2300hs.

Or else I like have to get new batteries. Maybe in the 3k to 3300 range to get a longer flight without being too heavy.

I can appreciate trying to share the 6S 4400mah packs with different helis, and avoid the expense of new mah size packs. However, disk loading and overall performance may be affected negatively if you are are only going to spin 606-623mm size blades with those 6S 4400mah packs. I use the 6S 4400mah packs on my 700 size helis spinning 710-716mm blades, but I don't think those packs are ideal for swinging shorter blades.

I believe the most common size packs for 600 size helis (E5 stretch included here) are the 6S 3300mah packs. Their average weight is about 555g. Compare that to the average weight of a 6S 4400 pack at around 716g. That's a difference of 161g between the two. Since you need two packs for 12S, the difference is now doubled at 322g. That's just about the weight of a motor.

I get 5.10 when my alarm goes off flying 620s on 3300 12s with a scorpion 4035 at 1950 rpm . If I fly hard I am at 28% remaining at this time. Now you take 4400 packs have 33% more capacity and you should have around 6.75 minutes of flight time less the extra weight gain. Once you get use to the weight I am sure it will do fine but if that is all you think about it will always be heavy. Just fly it and over time you will learn to deal with it fine I am sure. Nothing makes us better than lots of empty fuel jugs or worn out lipos

The more weight you throw on the more power you spend to haul it around. You may find the flight time gains to be lower than expected as well as a heavier flying heli. 4.4aH packs are pretty big for 600mm blades.

Wow those are pretty long flight times for 3300 6s pack! I only get about 4.2mins from my 4400 pack but run at about 2400hs. I guess the 300rpms really makes a difference.

I currently have 556mm blades on my 6s e5. Was also planning the same blades for the 12s setup.

I wonder if you can put the 600mm blades without a stretch kit? How much distance/clearance from the tail blades do you guys think is required? I know I might have to put longer tailblades or change ratio because of the lower Hs right?

Stretch kit is what I'd consider the bare min for running 600s.

Swapping in the faster gear set is pretty straight forward. Using longer tails works well too, although you'll miss a bit of clearance from the ground. Many 600EFL owners ended up using 102mm tails due to the low tail ratio that heli had.

You could still go around at 2300+ with the slower tail, but at those speeds on a 600 it'll be quite the ride
