Sorry John, don't know the pole count on the T500 motor.

There is another version uploaded just now (v1.0.7) which has a "Battery" tab which helps you calculate usage and percentage of remaining or used charge. The slider allows you to dial the percentages and the 'green' progress gauge is set at 80% used. Eventually I'll add its default value to the 'settings' page.

There is also the ability to enter information about your timed flight and how much you put back in. This will give you a discharge rate and then the slider will show you the flight time you can expect at various discharge percentages.

The slider kind of takes the shape of a battery (owner drawn control) for some different visuals but I might change it back to the standard slider if it looks too obnoxious.

Try it out and let me know what you think. Since this is the first layout of the 'battery' tab UI, its probably got a little reorganization needed. Its still considered beta but the 'basic' head speed calculator tab is fairly finalized.

Also, I changed the A123 voltage to 2.0->3.6V with nominal at 3.3V per cell.

Bruce

Just wanted to say thanks to everybody here in the Mikado forum who downloaded, tried, and gave feedback to help me get this head speed calculator formed. I've moved it over to the main forum and will let it take on a life of its own. Over time I'll add more of the things requested like an advanced calculator, motor database with more stats, etc.

Here is the new thread:
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=55471

Thanks again,
Bruce

Great program, using it often. Is it possible to add Plettenberg motors to it? Those are used a lot over here in Europe.
Anyway, good prog, thanks!

I'll add the whole line of Plettenbergs and also need to do some other promised work. Hopefully this week.

Seems to be a bug on Battery tab for the Flight Time calculation. I entered 6:0 minutes, 1850mAh and it told be the Discharge Rate was 308.33 A/min which is out by a factor of 1000 (missing conversion between mA and A I suspect) and A/min is not a useful unit.

Perhaps it is just the displayed units which are wrong and it is intended to be mAh/min ?

It might be a nice enhancement to add a display of the calculated average current.

Thanks Kenneth, I see the fault with the units entry and will fix that. As you stated, I meant for the discharge rate to be mAh/min to help calibrate flight times. Also I'll add the calculated average current since that might be a nice term to see.

Thanks,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce, that's great. Please post back to the tail of this thread whenever you publish a new version so we can pop back to the link in the first post and download it again. Maybe keep a "last updated" date or version number in the first post ?

The current one on the link is version 1.0.8 but I have a new one with all the Scorpion motors added, a few bug fixes, and a list by motor brand option. I would also like to add the Protos and Logo 400.

You might want to add the version number in the file name.

Makes it easy to know if you have the most current one......

The version number is in the titlebar of the application, about box, and the file properties. I have a blog (http://www.brucerc.com) that I will put it up on soon with a better ability to list changes.

Oh ya, I can't really change the name of the linked file since the original post is locked from me being able to edit which is why I stuck with a plain name that I could update on the server.

Hopefully I'll put up a new one this week.

After ordering and receiving a new Scorpion 3026-1210 for my Lepton, some felt it was too much motor for the heli with 4S packs but after looking at the ReadyHeli calculator I layed in a rash of pinions and started playing last weekend. for 2800 rpm HS on 4S Evo 20 FP 3700 bats I ended up running a 20 tooth pinion. If I changed out to Hyperion 3700 4S packs the HS went up by 100 rpm.

The machine flew great and if you apply this calulator to the Scorpion, the math works with 75% motor efficiency using the Castle CC80 ESC with 1.5 Firmware,

Nice calculator Bruce, great job!

Uploaded version 1.0.9 tonight with new motors added and several bug fixes along with some little features promised a while back. The original link to the file has been updated but from now on I plan on making changes on my personal blog site http://www.brucerc.com or more specifically there is a page dedicated to the head speed calculator at http://www.brucerc.com/software/hscalc/. Of course I'll report back here when there are changes so subscribers can get notified.

You might also notice that I'm looking at creating an easier to use airplane prop calculator. Since I've been flying planes lately I figure that would be the next step. Of course more fixes to the helicopter calculator will come first though.

Thanks for the feedback. An XML import/export/merge feature would make this really nice so all of you could add data and then send it back to put it in a master db. This is a big dream and since it has taken me this long to get back to the tool I'll need to change my productivity rate to make that happen.
