Default Trex 600E airwolf scale

This is my first project, was a Batcopter two years ago but it crash and re painted with this colors wich I love how it looks on air!! The fan is to improve heat dissipation to the esc because the original from align went too hot and cause me a short circuit. with this it wont go that hot but for peace of mind I add the fan wich work excellent with an additional 1.0 amp lipo batt) Click image for larger version

The fuselage is from century so it fits 50 models like the kinetic wich was originally built for it, but I decide to go Electric so the mechanics from the trex 600E were to thin to fit at the original wide wood base for kinetic. I made a custom aluminum base to solve the problem,I'm sorry I didn't took a picture before the asembly but I think it can be appreciated in the picture.( not the first onebut the one with the fan) that is arlready molded and milled to loose some weigth.

Thanks very much I love it too but in the crash the guns were mest up and lost and it won't be the same an airwolf or batcopter without machineguns, and looks a lot better in the air with more color it not just somethin black in the air.But for the shelf definetly batcopter!!

Out of curiosity, did you modify the top hatch so you can change batteries? Or cut a hole in the bottom?

Also, I'm not going to use the machine guns from my Funkey 50 size Airwolf. If you pay postage I'll send them to you.

No. Don't know why but I have a friend whith the same problem. He cut in half the top section
But mine is a century and I make custom base to sit the frame lower and I can
Change the 5000 batt pretty easy. My frame sits. No more than 1 inch from the bottom.

So how do you insert the battery? Through the top or the bottom? Do you have a photo please?

Thanks, that's very helpful. I'll definitely keep the top as one piece and try to make it work. Good idea about putting the battery vertically too. I was assuming mine would lie flat but I haven't put the mechanics in the body yet. Hopefully I'll get it flying well as pod and boom this weekend and then tear it down and figure out how to mount it.

Speaking of which, what order should I do things in? I assume the windows should go last so that I can reach the interior as easily as possible. Can I leave the horizontal fins off and do them after the boom is in? I feel like they're going to be pretty fragile and I'm worried about knocking them off. And what about the tail cone and vertical fin? Any tips would be appreciated.

Well I assemble the hole thing first ,made the first test flight then teared down everything to paint the body. the vertical and horizontal fin do not bother me at all to work in it. I do not know if you can see it clearly in the pics the original wood base for the kinetic's mechanics and under the trex 600 the aluminum plate I made to use it on top of the wood with the screws.(the plate you can see it better at the first pic of the thread) but anyway play with the height and front position of the frame and that will give you the space for the batt. If you notice I even had the receiver on top of the battery so I even use more space to pull it out! here some pics from the beginning of the project.Click image for larger version

Thanks. I guess I'll figure it out once I try to insert the mechanics. This is my first scale project so it's a little daunting.

Notice that my swash plate is inside the fuselage, my friend's air wolf the frame is installed higher and the swash plate shows over the top. He cut the top section to make it easier the batt exchange but nobody can tell!! Was a good job. Enjoy the project and try to simplify everything when you have to take off the frame from the fuselage. Try to put the electronics accessible to any fine tune and settings, I relocate the little shelf from the back(where usually we put the gyro) to the front section right in front of the servos , so I can connect the laptop to the esc and keep an eye to the receiver to make sure the binding is good between rx and tx!!! It occur to me to use a pc fan to improve cooling and long life to the esc because the poor air circulation I thought!( it work with an independent. Lipo batt) I use the CC 100 in bec mode to eliminate weight of a second batt. This is your project so do it the best way you can!! The minutes of flying this thing are priceless!

Were you able to install a light underneath the boom in the red plastic light fixture? I can't figure out how to get in there. It's too far in to cut a hole from the inside like I did with the similar red light on the top - I can barely reach it with my fingers, much less get a tool in there.

I use a 12" inches set of pliers and very much patience!! put some CA so I do not had to do it twice. you need to install it before mechanics for less trouble.( by the way Im esmeril207. I got to change the name for some trouble in the log in).

So you cut the hole from the inside? Were you holding a #11 blade with the pliers? Please explain a little more, I really don't see how to do it.

oops! sorry! I drill a hole from the out side to the inside of the fuselage of .200 or 1/4 the one you need for the light to be tight before I glued the red fixture that comes with the fuselage. then I use a long nose pliers to install the bulb from the inside and then I glue the red cover with CA. this is before install any mechanics. bend a little the light in an "L" form before trying with the pliers so once is in position you can push it with a screwdriver or the pliers. hope it helps!!
