Default 750MX 450...

Hi,

Is anyone having good luck getting power out of this motor? I have certainly read that they are not as powerful as we would like, but mine is getting nowhere near the rated capacity. I have about 11 degrees of collective and it flies very adequately, but not really what I had hoped from "Align's great new motor."

Running Align 800 blades on CHP DL 700 stretches that weigh 10.5 lbs. For reference, my Xera 4030 470 is getting noticeably more power than the Align which is rated higher. Nothing is getting hot or acting weird on either bird.

HW120HV, Gens Ace 3800 @ 12S
PWM: 8
Timing: 7.5 and 15 tested

Timing at 15 was better than 7.5, but I hesitate to go higher. I'm thinking I will try PWM = 12 and see if anything improves.

Anyone have suggestions?

12 kHz PWM and 18.75 degrees of timing woke it up a bit more. Still didn't really get warm (nothing did), but it did somewhat better against full pitch bogging. I had also added half a degree of positive since the last test.

I have to say that all in all it's working pretty well now.

I was thinking about a motor rewind to solid core. My guess is that a 14s setup with a 395kv motor would be perfect for this heli. Only reason I hesitate is that I'm not sure the gear train would handle it although align just released a heavy duty black replacement main gear. Tail, TT, anti rotation gears are a question mark......

The new higher ratio helical set are running great for me. I haven't blown any gears out at all since I got the CNC helical main.

Are you running any other upgrade gears other than the new align black main gear? Also, what rpm are you at? I wanna run in gov. Mode.

1500, 1700, 1800 VBar governed.

I have stock gears; i.e. CNC helical 112 Align (white), helical auto and umbrella, 11T Align helical pinion.

Never go below 15 on a hobby wing, that's how they burn,

The real power is at 22.5 timing,

Check the hobby wing forum

Hi guys,

I don't have much experience with motor tweaking via ESC settings so I hope you guys can help me out here.
I'm using the Align 750MX (530kV), stock version, on my new Goblin 700 and HW120HV.
So almost the same as you and I hope you're OK with asking me this question in your discussion...

I was wondering about the "correct" Timing & PWM settings for that motor but it seems there is no hard border between right and wrong

asfaik there is no point to go down to 8kHz, 12kHz is default and that are the only options here.
But Timing is 15° default. Should I try 22.5° as jord155 suggested?
How do I know if it is a good or bad value for my motor?

thx guys
Soko

To me it seemed like the Align liked PWM = 12. I had timing at 18.75 and would have tested the next one higher as well. Seemed like it was coming alive as I increased timing. Sold this motor.

I like the Xera 4030 470 better. I have PWM at 12kHz, and have timing at 7.5 degrees. Folks that I trust say to run timing on the lower end with Xera, but I wonder if I'm going to need to increase it to get the best power. At these settings everything ran cool - ESC, batteries, motor, barely warm to the touch after 3 x 6 minute sport flights.

Any additional info on the timing or PWM?

I just have a few flight with 12kHz and 15° and no problems so far...

I think the power is enough. I have some (other) troubles with the Goblin so I can't really tell
