Trex 500 Build Videos
12/30/2007 Field Report video from myself and an opinion from Fireup
Video Link -> Initial Field Reports from myself and Fireup (49 Megs) Build vids below ___________________________________________ OK here are the Trex 500 build videos. I am going to try and complete these in the next week and as fast as possible. However as you will hear in the "what's in the box" video my voice is gone. It's a little better today but last night it was SHOT so Frank Lock from Assurance did my "What's in the box" video. Thanks Frank! First up! Video Link ->What's in the box!! (17 Megs) Note on below! Align changed the longer ball to a shorter ball on the seesaw mixer arms. All 4 balls are now short balls! Video Link ->Step 1 - SeeSaw Assembly (20 Megs) Video Link ->Step 2 - Flybar Cage and Flybar Assembly (45 Megs) Video Link ->Step 3 - Swash Plate and Washout Assembly (42 Megs) Note on below! The thrust bearings are now labeled IN and OUT. BUT please double check them as some have gotten mislabeled sides Video Link ->Step 4 - Blade Grip Installation (40 Megs) Video Link ->Step 5 - Paddles and Grip Links (20 Megs) Video Link ->Step 6 - Main Frame Assembly (42 Megs) Video Link ->Step 7 - Servo Install w/ S9650 (45 Megs) Note: Someone pointed out I did not show how to trim off the "tabs" from a S9650 for use on the Trex500. This is because I had already done it as these servos were used on my Rotorworkz HFE frame build vids. So anyway if you want to see how to trim off the tabs properly watch this video https://video.helifreak.com/?subpath...rvoinstall.wmv Video Link ->Step 7a- Servo Install with HS-5245 Servos (61 Megs) The above video is using the Hitec HS-5245 servos. BIG THANKS to rchover.com and Hitec for supplying these man! But there are some problems so watch the vid. I don't do a full setup but I do give some tips so you WILL need to watch step 8 for CCPM setup OK.... Quick Diversion: I will be using a JR X9303 radio with this heli so I thought I would do a quickly overview of setting up the radio. I plan to do a full blown setup another time but this should help some people get started. Next vids will go into more menus for doing servo setup. Video Link -> Jr X9303 Quickly Setup Overview (84 Megs) OK back to the heli build..... Video Link ->Step 8 - Servo Setup (54 Megs) If you use HS-5245MG servos than watch that and also watch this please.... OK Another divergence to talk about WHY the servo link geometry is like it is... You don't need to watch this but if you are wondering why the links from the servos are not straight up and down, this will explain it. Video Link ->Why the Link Geometry is like it is (30 Megs) Back to the build again Video Link ->Head, Main Gear, and Servo link install (42 Megs) OK this is head setup bottom to top. BUT there was a discussion a few days ago about HOW to set 0 pitch without a pitch guage and I promised i would show how in this video. So there you have it! NOTE! The manual changed from my video. The long link is now 34mm and my manual said 31mm. Video Link ->Head Setup! (92 Megs) Video Link ->Step 11 - Tail Drive and Boom Install (33 Megs) Video Link ->Step 12 - Tail Case and Belt Adjustment (30 Megs) Video Link ->Step 13 - Tail Rotor Install (48 Megs) Video Link ->Step 14 - Tail Servo install and Tail Linkage (32 Megs) OK I am going to use the Solid-G gyro from Curtis Youngblood on this heli. So these vids are all about setting that up! If your using somthing else then see my MANY other setups for the 401, 611, SpartanRC, etc... But this section will be all about setting up the Curtis Solid-G with the Trex500 Video Link ->Curtis Youngblood Solid-G Gyro --- Intro "What's in the box" (14 Megs) Video Link ->Curtis Youngblood Solid-G Gyro - "Stick / Radio" Setup NOT using the G-view (67 Megs) Video Link ->Curtis Youngblood Solid-G Gyro - Setup "Using the G-View" Setup (43 Megs) Video Link ->Curtis Youngblood Solid-G Gyro - G-view Advanced Settings (55 Megs) Back to the heli build...... Step 15 ESC Setup! I am doing this before motor install for video reasons. Video Link ->Step 15 - ESC Setup (28 Megs) Video Link ->Step 16 - Motor Install and Pinion Setup (26 Megs) Video Link ->Step 17 - Electronics Placement (35 Megs) OK finishing the steps I skipped before for video purposes. Video Link ->Step 18 - Landing Gear (18 Megs) Video Link ->Step 19 - Boom Struts and Horizontal Fin (15 Megs) OK thats it on the build! The videos that will follow in a day or 2 will be a flight report. Video Link -> Initial Field Reports from myself and Fireup (49 Megs) I hope you all enjoyed! Bob

Niiccee! I can't afford right now, but I'll definitely consider getting one next year to add to my family of Trex's. Thanks Bob for these tech video references. Without it, I wouldn't have the knowledge to properly build and fine tune my helis. It's these videos that helps me ALOT!

As always this is going to be a great build series, not sure if I can get one before Christmas, I'm not on any list, just have to search night and day for them....
Hope you feel better soon, I have my newly built T600 Nitro to keep me happy thru the Christmas, almost two gallons and loving it..... Robert
