Default Hello

Just wanted to say hello. Just picked up a Uflys off Craigslist with extra batteries and box of spare parts for 100.00! Owner even demo'd it for me so I knew it could fly. Seemed like a good deal not to pass up. I learned as a kid on a Cricket and then graduated to a Hirobe Suttle Z. Spent a whole lot of time fixing after 10 second flights lol.

So a couple of questions, way back when I was learning the Tx was set up throttle/rudder on the right and cyclic on left. This controller is different and I was wondering what the recommended set up is? The owner had it set for throttle on left with forward/back and the right stick was rudder/strafe.

Another one, the tail seems to loose power couple of seconds after take of and starts to spin the heli in circles. When I land the rudder seems maxed to one side ( maybe this is gyro trying to work its magic ). Pushrod does not seem to be binding but maybe the pinion for rudder power is slipping? There is a little play in the main shaft so I will try and tighten that up bit.

Anyway seems like a nice little chopper with cheap parts available.

Most people in North America fly mode 2, which is throttle / rudder on the left, pitch / ailerons on the right.
Which TX did you get with the heli and which mode is it set for?
Did you do any changes after the seller demo'd it for you?

Tx is 2402. its set for mode 3 ( th/rudder) on right. It was opposite when I got it but I could switch it back. Its still so new to me that I get disoriented when the canopy is facing me...

So about the rudder loosing power and grinding. I looked in the tail boom and the pinion support bearing was about an inch back from the pinion. Maybe the drive shaft is flexing and the gear is jumping teeth under load and thats why I'm loosing power? All the gears look to be in good condition. I can hover for a bit then i try and climb and its starts making a funny grinding noise and spinning...

Thanks for the help

Flying "nose in" is not confusing just for you! Everybody goes through this learning curve.
I would recommend switching the TX to mode 2, as the majority flys this way.
I'm not sure what your problem is with the tail, are both helis having the same issue?

Default fixed the tail

So it was the pinion guide bearing in the boom being so far from the pinion and allowing it to jump teeth under load. Moved the bearing to right behind the gear and problem solved. No I just need to try as you suggest and switch back to mode 2, and maybe turn down all the gyro pots. They are at 50% and still I have to fight them. Hovered in the garage for a whole battery without hitting anything,
