if you really want more out of it do the flybar less conversion and do away with the flybar..it will become very responsive and have longer run time due to the less rotating mass in the head assembly...just be sure to upgrade the servos if you go flybar less the walkera plastic gear servos wont handle the stress of a fbl head..get some of the henge md-922 from HK..

Yes, fly bar-less is an alternative, but I am looking at a different approach. One that is more cost effective.
Plus it looks pretty cool!
I spoke with ClubHeli and they are going to include one in they're order with Xtreme.

I use it and am very happy with it,but I would recommend buying new blade grips at the same time. The original one had that much loctite on the ball thread I ended up breaking it trying to get it out.

if you want the most cyclic response possible just get a FBL head without the 3-axis gyro. I'm sure a V370D01 or V200D01/2 head would be the same size.

The V370 head fits fine and is a good mod if you want a flybarless, shaft drive tail in this size but I dont think using it without the 3axis gyro would be a good idea.
I just dont like the way the Walkera flybarless fly but love a flybarred heli with the 3axis.

I have the 3 axis gyro but I turned down the aileron and elevator pots to 0% and just use the rudder set to about 25%. I really want to go with the bell-hiller setup, perhaps in the future I will try the FBL setup.

Gullydwarf, did you use the factory blade grips or did you get the Xtreme set.

the xtreme blade grip looks real nice, i wonder if it has any of the side to side slack that the stock blade grips do....i got a lot of the slack out of mine using homemade shims...i took some thin clear plastic from a package of batteries and drilled 2 holes in it then i used a paper hole punch and centered it up where i drilled them and punched them out and it made perfect thin plastic shims...i put one on each side of the feathering shaft between the blade grips and c-ring on the shaft...worked really well...

I used the factory parts, took all of ten minutes to assemble and much to my suprise, worked perfectly.Probably 40 or so flights and no problems. My Ufly must have been assembled when the president of walkera was inspecting the factory because it's my most reliable walkera.

That's great gullydwarf! Mine is a smooth runner also when I don't crash it.

Magicmarty that is a great idea for the feathering shaft, I am going to do that to mine until the Xtreme grips come in.

Has anyone found out yet what happens if you have a blade strike and the blade whips back and impacts the bell-hiller mod?

I haven't had any problems so far. If your worried stack some o-rings on the blade grips behind the root of the blade.

I already have the o-rings installed but from the pictures I've seen it looks like they would interfere with the bell-hiller linkage.

I don't know. I haven't run o-rings, but I do run my blades snug, haven't had any problems. I do run Super Skids Super Blade XP's with the 2mm root (the old style not the 4mm new style).
I will say the bell-hiller mixer is not for the faint of heart, it halves the response time, I mean it is super responsive! you are not only putting input into the flybar part of the cycle but also into the blade part of the cycle. thus making it very fast and awesome!

Give it a whirl !
