Default Main Shaft vertical play

I just posted the below on one of the threads in which this topic came up. However, I believe that this is important enough to post separately to ensure that it is visible to those building/flying the X50e.

You can easily remove the up/down play in the main shaft by adjusting the Main shaft locking collar while it is installed on the main shaft. Here is what I did: 1) Turn the main shaft until the 1 of the 2 set screws on the locking collar is aligned with the small hole in the carbon fiber frame panel and loosen the 1st set screw. 2) Turn the main shaft approximately 45 degrees to align the 2nd set screow with the small hole in the frame panel and loosen it. 3) Push down on the main shaft while pushing up on the main shaft locking collar to ensure that both the spacer at the bottom of the main gear and the locking collar are making contact with both the main shaft ball bearings. 4) Tighten the 1st set screw on the locking collar and test to make sure the play is gone. Turn the main shaft 45 degrees and tighten the 2nd set screw. You are done and the play is gone! This is important because you do want the shaft secured so there is no play during collective pitch changes but also loading the bearings is important for smooth, vibration free operation. Let me know if you have any questions.

This has been a basic building practice on ANY heli with an adjustable locking collar, no?

Yes indeed! However, the reason I posted this is because there was a thread started in this X50e sub-forum where several folks were compaining of this vertical play and the replies were "no big deal" and "mine does the same thing" without anyone actually posting how to rectify. So, I decided to share how to resolve. However "elementary" it maybe there are folks who might not be aware and could benefit from the instructions.

I definitely agree with the re-posting of this information for the X50e. It helps up and coming kit builders such as myself with the Basic's.

I for one will not ask/search, for what I know not to ask/search for...
