Futaba says that the BLS267SV is the replacement. It’s a high voltage servo with all of Futaba’s latest technology.

The BLS276SV is exactly the same servo that you have (256hv) but they added Sbus 2 compabilety and programming options.
If you don't want to use the setting options, just plug it in and go fly. Wil work just like your bls 256hv

Thanks for the help, that will be what I use moving forward. I did buy some BLS256's for the time being. Still in stock @ a few places...

Hmmm... Is it the direct replacement for the bls 256hv? The specs say:

Compatible with the Futaba CGY750, GY701, GY520, GY430, GY611 and
GY601 gyros, cannot be used applications other than those listed
above or damage may occur

Since it’s a Futaba servo they are not going to list all the other brands of gyros. What they are really saying is that it won’t work with a standard receiver and must be controlled by a gyro capable of generating a 760us 300-560 Hz pulse rate. All high performance rudder servos have the same requirement.

I'm just not clear whether it's like the bls251 and is only compatible with Futaba gyros while the 256 can be used on any. The 256hv's description doesn't mention anything like that.

That’s a very good question. I know guys that have over 1000 flights. I have never known of a BLS servo to actually ware out. I wonder how much Futaba would charge to refurbish it?

The BLS251 can be used with any gyro the BLS256HV could be used on.

It's just the low voltage version. As long as the gyro can output the 760us pulse width, it will work.

That is my thoughts also.

BLS or brushless is the same as the main drive motors ( 3 phase ac electric motors ) , no brushes means that it has to be an electrical board or windings in the core failure.

That being said the know Kyle ( team Mikado - logo 700-800 ) are running the jr variants (coreless) to 1200 flights and replacing preventatively. Failures in the 1700 + flight area.

From my experience Brushless futaba servos can take a much harder impact, and use less than half the power. I have two 9352s that have burnt the motor in less than 100 flights.

That’s good point about the power. With Futaba BLS servos you can get away with a much smaller BEC than if you use brand "A" servos. They are very efficient and very durable.

To be clear the 9352 servo has a coreless motor. I was comparing coreless to brushless.
