Same thing. "EP" is just and anacronym for "Electric Powered". I've seen it advertised that way, too.

While this is true, there's more to using a 5ch receiver on a helicopter radio. Collective (pitch) is universally transmitted on ch 6, which a 5ch receiver doesn't have. While 5 channels are enough, ch 6 is needed for pitch control. I think there may be a couple receivers out there that clone ch6 on the ch 5 slot, mostly because there are airplanes out there that can use two aileron servos (ch1 mixed with ch 6). Also, some transmitters can do that, as well, but I don't think that feature is available in the helicopter side of the software.

Let your heart not be troubled. With a modern computer radio, you can mix channel 5 to channel 6, duplicating the output of ch6 to ch5. In that case, you can use a 5ch receiver. In the case of the 9C:

Program mix #1
Master: ch6
Slave: ch5
Trim: ON
Link: ON
Rate: -100% / +100%
Switch E (Null)

Other computer radios have similar capability.

Remember, as Bimmer said, you won't be able to use a remote gain gyro.

Cheers,
Erich

Basically, if your gyro doesn't have remote gain you only need 5 channels.

Thanks for the clarification, Erich. I always forget that the pitch is on channel 6, not 5. So, yes, technically you only need 5 channels. But some extra mixing will be needed if you use a 5 channel receiver.

Cool! But you better never come to my field. I'm also on channel 56!

Let me know how the Chili Pepper motor performs. I've heard good things about it, but don't know of anybody who has one in a T-Rex. A local flyer here is seriously considering getting a Rex and I'd like to know if I can recommend the CP motor to him.

I won't be there saturday. I have to take my mom to Atlanta. Can you come Sunday instead? Or, you can just drop it off and I'll get it sunday.

Mac's brother was impressed with that pass. I told him that plane's for sale. You owe me a copter if he buys it!

He did a pass in Bonanza today. It looked like the Cub compared to the speed machine!

Hi Folks,

I purchased the CSM200 gyro for use with the T-REX but haven't built the chopper yet. Did I make a mistake with this gyro? Should I get a different one? Thanks.

I don't know much about the CSM200. Please report back how it does.

Hi I see you guys were after batt times.

I brought my trex from flying hobby and went for the budget combo. Ie align servos and gyro and a 2200 lipo batt at $33 each.

well last night I timed a flight and I was well impressed at the air time 17.30 to burn through a pack not bad for $33 batt

$33 for a 2200 LiPo is a great deal! Is that USD? I may have to order up one.

Is that flight time with the Align 400S motor?

Heres the link

http://www.flying-hobby.com/productShow.asp?id=447

These batts just fit under the canopy but at the price i reckon they are a good deal.

yes the motor is the 400's on 13 tooth .

At this stage my flying consist of hovering round doing the odd spin and small circuits so im not pushing the pack i guess.

Wow,

Can't beat it at that price. My TP2100's cost $69 a pop. Might have to order a few!

Just a note on these batts

I have just wreacked one batt pack due to the wire moving braking the tab off the batt.

What you need to do to prevent this happening is re run the wires the full length of the pack and tape them down this will prevent the tab being broken off after a period of time due to wire vibration etc.
