Greetings from Tulsa
Hello everyone, I'm Nick and live in Tulsa, OK. I've been flying on and off for about 2.5 years now, primarily fixed pitch and primarily nano scale. I do own a 130X fully outfitted with Rakon parts but I purchased it used and have yet to get it airborne. There were numerous setup errors and needed repairs that have taken a long time for a rookie like myself.
I recently spent a grand total of $60 for both a Trex 450 and Blade 450X (Trex has RX but no battery, 450X has battery but no RX ) and am in the beginning stages of getting them flightworthy and prepping myself for CP flight using the Phoenix sim. Looking forward to some actual outdoor flight time! I'm definitely here on helifreaks to learn, but hopefully someday I can contribute as well. Anyone in Oklahoma, especially the Tulsa area, please feel free to contact me! I'd love the chance to watch someone more experienced than myself fly, and would be incredibly grateful if anyone was willing to look over my helicopters and provide feedback on necessary adjustments or repairs to help me both get them in the air and especially learn in the process. I look forward to being a part of the forum, thanks for having me! |

Hi and welcome!
First know that everyone learns and can help someone else learn. These things are so complex you might run into something not seen or have a different way of explaining it or help someone who got lost into the vastness of the forum. Everyone is a valuable contributor Read through your model forums and ask questions and post pictures. Pretty sure you will be able to get them air ready. Now I would suggest lots of sim training but structured. I touch on that (among other things) on this post. Hope it helps. I consider myself a newbie still but thanks to lots of research and questions and the awesome ArchmageAU I was able to compete this introduction. Enjoy. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=720316 Finally for looking for more flyers check the AMA website (join if you haven't already as well). Quote:

It doesn't really matter what sim you use. It matters how you use it as part of a structured training program to keep progressing and fine tuning your skills. It is common to fall into the trap of flying around guilt-free of crashes but that won't help you advance much. Use the training mentioned on my post. I follow it myself and although it is taking me a long time I do see the benefits.
This is the AMA website. There is a portion to search for events or nearby clubs. Join it is worth it. http://www.modelaircraft.org/ Quote:
