Larry are you kidding me? Thats ridiculously heavy for a 1S setup, lol. And a counter weight? You need to shorten your tail and adjust your batts better.

None of my birds have broke the 65g w/ battery weight (550). Even with the 120SR tail i used to run.

I have the boom at the recommended 155mm from main shaft to tail shaft.

I have the 550's slid as far forward as possible (as the canopy will allow). Even then it was still tail heavy. The nose weight is 2.5g's.. Even without it it would be just about 70g's all up.

It's not short on performance, that's for sure. hahaa

I'm open for suggestions on weight reduction! I'm sure the X frame and metal bits don't help.

Stock canopy or Type A canopy and fit the lipo from the front only pushing it in far enough to clear the canopy.

Perhaps you have a bunch of wiring and connectors that you could reduce. Copper is heavy.

One benifit of a lighter heli besides performance is less damage when you auger it in.

No excessive wiring.. I guess I'll order a typeA canopy and check it out..

But that still will only get it down to 69-70g's. Really, aside from swapping out parts for plastic bits, I can't think of any ways to make it lighter.

Actually, now that I think of it, the main motor is plugged with connector to the ESC, I guess I could pull that and direct solder. Not sure how much weight that would save.

Larry, Your bird doesn't look that much different then mine. I dont see how your bird weights in at 70 grams w/o a battery. Your 20g heavier then me.

Edit: Just saw that is was with battery. You could shave a little weight with the motor plug.

It seem's to me that the ESC and tail wire are big.

ESC -> motor - I am going to cut and solder that.. We'll see if that helps .

But the tail motor wire is cat5 wire, it's as short as it can be. Nothing to change there.

It's more the diameter to reduce than the lenght

Not me, I don't like the look of it. I use heavy duty enameled wire, 26awg, two strands parallel along the bottom of the boom with heat shrink to hold it in place.

Default My mcpx-BL weighs 53/69g with mods

Stock BL except for
- lynx solid CF tail boom
- homemade tail wires. 24 gauge plastic coated. My heaviest mod but solid as a rock.
- lynx tail rotor
- extreme skid set with twin boom tail brace
- small cable tie tail boom mod (outstanding!)
- Microheli titanium main shaft & autorotation gear (bling but I love it)
- Lynx V2 swash
- Extreme canopy (very strong plastic - $3.69 on sale at HeliDirect!)

53g dry, 69g with Nano-tech 300 maH battery

Flies superbly. Love the auto gear. Sounds meaner and spins for ever after landing.

I used some thick gauge wire on my tail motor also, done with that fragile magnet wire. Works great!
