Default Has anyone modified the OS37

I raced nitro cars and use to modify (dremmel) my own engines for more performance. It worked on cars and i would assume that there may be room for improvement on the os37. I searched and can't find anything. Has anyone done it or considered it?

The concept is simple, make it easier for more air/mixture to move through the motor. The execution is much harder lol. I do my own chainsaw engines and have done small nitros .12 and .15, but usually copying what someone posted online.

Also, a few people at my field run a slide carb on teh os50 and swear by the upgrade. Is anyone aware of a slide carb that would fit the os37?

Thanks!

The carbs that come on the 37 are rotary. You rotate them to open the carb up for air/mixture. The slide carbs slide with the servo. Almost all nitro car racing carbs are slides.

The only thing I did to mine was polish the back plate. Because of the way the motor stands up in the frame the pin on the cam can rub on the back plate while it's running. I polished the back plate to reduce the friction.
I learned this from my car racing days. As for porting etc. I think it requires some trial and error. TBH... I just want to fly.

Yeah you guys are right. I spent sometime tuning the 37 and it delivers all the power needed. No need to modify. It's a very well balanced Heli between power and collective management.

Love it.

Its also much harder to modify a Heli motor than a car or buggy or weed eater motor. Vibration reduction is key......

Same here, if ya tune it, it runs pretty darn well. Still wonder if a .50 would fit

I'm to lazy to dig it out, but someone reported on another thread here that the T10 and the OS 50 have the same mounting dimensions. The head would be larger, but I think that could be worked out.
