Default Early Predator canopy standoffs-Warning

Hey Gang,

After finally getting a good look at my P-Gasser crash last year, we noticed that in high-speed inverted backward flight the canopy popped off the standoffs and into the blades and such.

I recently heard a few others have some close calls as well.

The newer kits have the screw on type of standoffs to remedy this possibility (not sure how long ago it changed)

So if you fly your machine relatively aggressive, I recommend replacing your standoffs before pushing the bird too hard.

My grommets stayed bone-dry because of the gasser motor, but with the canopy design it can really grab a lot of air so it still popped off; a glow powered bird will really slicken them up and be at even higher risk.

Warren,

Thanks for the info about the Predator. I noticed the rubber grommets getting soft and the canopy coming off with little force using the original standoffs. I recently changed to the newer screw on type on the appear to stay on now - I just wish they had a knurled knob instead of a screw to hold the canopy onto the stud.

Thanks again.

Will the MA Tempest style knobs work? I know people are using them on a lot of Raptors. They are very easy to grip and get tight.
