Default v6 firmware for non vbar control

I read on vstabi in a thread from May that v6 firmware would eventually be made available to non vbar control users. Is there any more news about this? I am guessing we would have to buy the v6 receivers and possibly pay for the firmware?
I have read reports that v6 flys better than 5.3.

If you buy the receivers then you would use the VBAR control radio, right?

Currently V6 only for VControl and it's receivers. Those receivers does not work with any other transmitter.

We know they're working on updated firmware for non-VControl VBars, but they have not and will not announce dates until it's ready for release. They also haven't made any commitments about hardware.

Purely speculation on my part, but I think it's possible we won't see new firmware until we also see new hardware. From a development efficiency standpoint it would be better to have one piece of hardware that can support any receiver (VControl or other) with the same firmware; and because of USB port conflicts with the Control bus, as I understand it the current hardware can't. But I'll say again that is entirely speculative - I don't know anything that hasn't been said publicly before.

OK. When I saw the thread I wondered if something was imminent that I was not aware of. I can wait. It will be an awful long time before I out fly v5.3.

Yes, if new hardware would be nessesary (pure speculation) it wont be worth it imo. 5.3 flies great and what I like different will not happen anyway. (subtrim in the tail! There's more than enough resolution and your Vbar will hold the best with it centered. No more buying and trying 10 horns)

I can't think of any features that I'm missing in the current firmware. My fingers and my flying skills are the limiting factors, and I doubt the heli will fly any better with any other firmware (or hardware for that matter).

A self-leveling bailout would be handy, but that wouldn't have saved me in my last 10 high-speed low-altitude crashes anyway...

You never know what you are missing until you try an improved product. That's my experience.

You can center the servo manually in V6.

So VControl aside, are you saying that the v6 firmware does fly noticebly better than v5.3?

Yes. More crisp, more precise, extremely stable. I'll just leave this here.

Yes so everyone thinks the vbar control is awesome but it's really the improved control loop. Get it! Great strategies.

No, it's both! The new control loop is noticeably improved, particularly at low headspeeds. However VBar Control has easily the lowest latency I've experienced with any system, and that latency translates directly to ability to control how the model feels.

I would like to use it but it's not usable for me
Clearly designed for thumb flyers, not pinchers. The edge is too sharp, if only they made it nice and round

I pinch also and although the aggressive edge did bother me at first, it took very little time to get used to it. I actually forget it was ever an issue until someone brings it up.
