My kit is less than 2 weeks old. 3GX V2....the latest combo with everything minus receiver. Align batt and 2 sets of bladed included. Some people are luckier than others? My kit wasn't something that had sat at the shop I purchased from, but I don't know if it sat at Assurance RC distribution, but they are local to me here in So Cal.

Right now i'm still beginner so not yet worrying about tail blowing out on hard moves (won't be for a long time) but still like to know i've got something mechanically sound at least
Hi, I replaced my 450 tail bearings after 155 flights with Protos bearings, so far so good (I was lucky that my Align bearings sustained 155 flights).
The Protos bearings seem to have less clearance (less tolerance) than the Align bearings, also they run smoother. I think the Protos bearings will sustain longer.

Same problem here. Tail bearings shot on Trex 450 SportV2. First set was cranked tight and 2nd set was loose with blue. Both sets had the race ripped. I even tried a new Pro tail holder with bearings and no luck. Ordered a 3rd set and decided to check out if any other freaks had same problem. Disappointed with Align to find quite a few posts about poor bearings. Time to cancel 3rd order and fine me some Boca's.

The WORST part about this problem is Align literally couldn't give 2 shits to even acknowlede/inform customers.

That's my bold and borderline rude thanks as it cost me in the beginning, something has to be said for true customer service.

I have looked on boca bearings. Im referring to a prepackaged bearing set to go over the entire heli. Does boca have one or do you have to pick each bearing ?

I just picked up stock tail bearings since I just wanted to get back up in the air that day.

If they go again I'll order the boca set and wait

Based on information in this thread, I went ahead and got the kit and just replaced the tail inner and outer bearings for now. Figured I'd replace the others as needed. I think the set was $40 shipped and well worth it. They seem to be holding up much better than the Align's. I went through 3 sets of Align's pretty quickly, but thankfully didn't have any crashes as I can confirm throttle hold is your friend, especially during loss of tail control!

Just came to post my results. I have a brand new pro v2 that has a very, very small but quick wag during fast reverse flight. Its only got about 3 batteries through it but my eyes caught this post. I pulled the inner bearings out and neither of them were smooth. One was extremely stuck into the grip and took me about 6 minutes to get it out. I replaced with eflight bearings (b400/450) as that is all my lhs had in stock. Tail slop was much less after replacing, too windy and dark to fly at this point, but the feel on the bench is already better.

Those don't have the CWM like Align's though. It would be cool if Align added a thrust bearing like the main grips... bigger radial bearings to go with it of course... and a longer shaft.

Hey guys, just noticed this thread, what are the easy to notice symptoms of bad bearing, is this normal from another post of mine with tail 45* degree kickouts on pitchpumps.

Quote:
Also noted when repairing the heli, i started it up with no main blades on and just the tail blades without connecting the tail rod to the tail slider.

I grab the ball at the end of the tail (tail servo->ball->tailrod->ball<--this ball) and moved it by hand, silk smooth, spool the heli up about 25%, can move end of left right on the tail slider.

50% throttle and it was hard to hit the ends of the slider by hand, anything above and it was pretty stiff.

this is normal right? The servo must be strong :O

So, still no fix to this. After about 45+ flights, i've gone through 3 sets align, 2sets boca stainless, and 1 set boca ceramic - outer grip bearings. Maybe more, I dont know anymore. Have had to save it with throttle hold 3 or 4 times, and just tonight, I ended up autoing from about 20 feet. Which is kool as I can confirm the 450 auto's pretty good but sucks as this is getting rediculous.

Has anyone found a solution? I think I'm going to try new grips next.

So, are you sure the tail bearings are bad? I've had a problem that my heli starts out fine, then about 10 seconds into the flight, it spins out of control. Just killing me to hunt down the problem because the tail bearings seemed fine when i checked them.
