Default Belt slipped off the tail pulley

Hey guys,

I think I had the "belt jumped off the pulley because the tension was too tight from a large temp increase that expanded the boom". First inspection shows about 1/2 the width of teeth worn down on the belt.

I have a spare belt but I'm not sure if I should replace the tail pulley too. It looks fine as far as I can tell.

Think I'll be ok using the same rear pulley?

I'll have to inspect the inner pulleys closely when I get it on the bench.

So I pulled the tail & belt. Need new tail pulley too. Other than that, I THINK I'm good to go.

Was going to spring for the new, taller main shaft clamp that comes with the new 690SX but it looks like it will reduce negative collective travel too much so unless someone tells me it'll work, I'll skip it.

Did this happen on your 600SE?
Which idler bearing are you using on the tail?

I got the new idler bearing that I mounted above the tail pulley. It is much wider and actually sits in the rear tail belt pulley.

If you hold this idler bearing so it doesn't turn and spin the whole drive train it barely moves. I don't see anyway for the belt on my 600SE to come off. And I had it happen a couple of times with the 600SE. No Bueno.

I also use the CF boom so belt tension never ever ever changes. It's a must to pin the CF boom.

Mike,

Yes, it was my SE. I'm using the stock tail/idler bearing that came with my 2011 kit. I'll have to remember the next time I need parts to get the new bearing.

I don't have the CF boom but all my booms get pinned.
