Default 600se head damper problem

I have been chasing a vibration from the second flight on a brand new 600se, finally found it today and its the dampers seems to be warped, there is also quite a lot of play when i pull one grip against the other, should there be play here, are people putting in extra shims to remove this?

Had the same problem, the tiny washers cut into the dampener, spindle moves and head then vibrates. Typically see the tail bobbing up and down.

There are several threads on this, solutions vary from using a larger brass washer and or kbdd dampener.

One of the "O" rings in my Logo 600 3D (FBL head) was damaged when I got the machine (used).

I took the head apart and installed two KBDD Spacer washers and one Lime Green KBDD Damper on each side.

No more collapsing "O" Rings and the ship has a really nice feel to it on cyclic.

Simple fix is to install an additional 0.5mm black shim between the grip and the dampners. With two on each side that does the trick.

The KBDD Spacers are inserted first, then the Damper.

+1

Buy and extra Mikado damper kit and use the two black washer/spacers. Add one to each side of the head (in addition to those already there) and you'll be in a happy place.

done a lot of research on this now, and listened to podcasts on this matter from team pilots and an upgraded kbdd damper or the trueblood ones are the best option, end of.

I fixed this by installing the brass washers that come with an Align 600 or 550 size damper set. They're a smidge larger than the Mikado plastic ones and just work great.

Wich arent available in europe?

I use the stockers. no extra washers. just a .1mm shim between dampeners and the plastic spacer. no problems during 80 flights, the dampers have become sloppy now.(thats normal for dampers.. the pro's change them every 70 to 80 flights too..)

I'm probably going to get some just to try. Not in a hurry though, I love the 600SE so far.

The lime green KBDD's will last a lot longer than 80 flights!

Wont buy KBDD again. i had the normal greens in my 550, and it killed them after(Hold on) 15 flights. it developed play in under 50 flights wich i find not acceptable. and they were 4 times as pricey as the stockers(Align or Mikado)

Or is there something special about the lime greens?

Nko15,

I have run lime green, blue, and orange with no problems. If memory serves, the regular greens are softer, and I prefer firmer dampers, so I have not used them.

They should not get soft or sloppy for many, many flights. You should easily get over 100 with the dampers in good shape.

I flew my Logo today with the Lime Green Dampers in it (only 25-30 flights on them, at this point) and they are working extremely well. The orange ones were in my Trex 600E for a very long time and remained in good shape.

Did you lube them with silicon grease? This helps in terms of both performance and longevity.

If your 550 was an Align 550, if memory serves, the blue ones are specifically for the Align 550/600 heads.

Using a petroleum based grease may dissolve or damage them, by the way.
