Default How do you wire WR BEC to VBar for XXtreme

Question;

How do you hook up the WR BEC to the VBar on the XXtreme ?

Do you drop the "red wire" from the YGE ESC ?

Question WR BEC to 7 or 14S?

Hello,

is it better to connect the WR BEC to one of the 7S Pack or to the whole 14S? I heard something, its
less work for the BEC if its just to one of the packs connected.

thank you,
faxxe

14s stresses the bec a Little more, but less Chance of Hooking it up wrong And frying your Electronics afaik.

I used a 4S lipo flight pack insted of hooking it up to the flight batteries. but if I was going to connect it to my flight packs I would piggy back a pigtail off one of the 7S packs to eliminate a jumper between the two packs.

@faxxe: I have my WR BEC wired up to one of the 7S packs so the BEC is just reducing voltage from one pack instead of the full 14S. One added benefit is that all of your electronics will be powered up before your ESC and motor gets power. Just remember to plug in the 2nd pack. During my maiden, I forgot to plug in the 2nd pack and of course... once I flicked off throttle hold, nothing happened and then I was stressed that I screwed something up. Then I realized that I forgot to plug in pack 2 and all was well.

Read the post below because it's important to know which connectors to connect to the BEC (the one that connects to the negative lead of the ESC).

If you connect the BEC to the wrong connector, you will fry ALL of your electronics!!!

(Sorry for the big type, but I'm trying to keep you from having a magic smoke party).

Doing it across the connector to pack two will fry your electronics as the full voltage from pack one will bypass the BEC. Ask me how I know this

This Diagram shows the correct way using less than a 14s BEC

If your HV BEC can handle the full 14s then it can be wired like this

Note in these diagrams they are using 6s packs. For our purposes on the Xxtreme assume 7s packs.

More than that: . If this ESC is like the yge 120 HV it needs power from that red wire from the red wire or it won't arm, since the BEC is wired to the vbar, the red lead on the throttle is hot, the ESC uses that power. At least that's how the 120HV works and I think the 160 is the same

Not sure about this, but I think it uses the voltage from that line to power the opto coupler in the ESC ( since there is no BEC in the ESC, there is not suitable voltage level for the optocoupler)
