Default How well does your bird balance?

So I have been using a 3s 2200 pack up front, under the nose for a RX pack. WR BEC, JR9717 servos. And she has always been really nose heavy. Had 28.8g strapped to the tail fin to try balance. Tonight I weighed the Gens Ace pack, 202.3g Took apart a few old Zippy 3s packs here, making 2s packs, no wrapper etc. Lightest I get to is 154g. She is still nose heavy with 1/2 tank. Holding sideways balance method. Rx is up front, FRsky 8xr, Datapod and Spartan VX1n, and the BEC. Not a lot of weight of elecs there, but nowhere to really relocate them nicely either. And she is heavy on pipe side too.

Am I being to anal? This is on a older Nitro Pro with the Belcrank setup, and FBL head

My Trex 700 Limited Edition balances right on the money with the tank empty and a Thunder Power 2S 2100 G8 Pro Lite+ pack and the Align dual voltage regulator under the nose.

This pack was recommended to me by the owner of the LHS where I bought the chopper, it is advertised as weighing 107 grams. I never actually weighed it because the heli balances perfect with it, This is the 700N with the bell-cranks and a flybarred head.

I've got two packs I bring with me to the field. The 2200mah is a little light and make the bird tail heavy regardless of how much fuel is in the tank. I also have and mostly use my 3600mah that perfectly balances right around the half tank mark. This is my main pack I use, and the 2200 is mostly just a backup pack in case I'm out somewhere without a charger and want to get more flights in.

I'm using Align BL700H cyclics and throttle and BL750H tail. They are 69g each...so not sure (no BEC, direct 2s lipo). What motor and pipe are you using? I currently run the YS 91 SRX Tareq with associated Hatori pipe. I'm also not using the original 700n tail, its a 700N LE converted to DFC with the newest tail assembly. Also running Rail 696 mains and tails. Could be we have very different setups.

I'm also using an AR7200BX with the gov firmware, so I don't have a separate receiver, wiring, or the 2n1. The BX makes for a very simple, neat, and clean wiring.

OK, Sooooo, A follow up here. I had the V1 plastic tail and pitch lever/slider. I just upgraded to the V2 all metal tail grips, the new pitch slider and alum lever. Also started weighing my packs. And my 3s Gens pack I was using is 202.5g. Took apart some old Zippy 2200 packs I had, made some 2s packs weighing at 128.3g. Now she balances like a champ. Perfectly level. So it was a combo of 3s pack and not having the upgraded parts. Lost some weight up front, but put some in back.

Have you been flying lately, Dan? Would be interested to hear the results from your perspective. I've run a Pulse Ultra 2S3600, Vbar Silverline, Torq Servos, KDE tail mechanism, KDE boom supports, KDE metal elevator servo mount, GForce metal clutch block, YS91SRX Tareq, Hatori Tareq, and mine balances pretty nicely with a 1/2 tank. I've not been all that particular, since the fuel changes the COG and I am not an expert smack pilot. Plus, I fly with mine a touch tail heavy most of the time as I like flying without canopy alot.

Only thing I've noted on models when tail heavy, is they might tend to not carry forward momentum in upright FF as well. Gotta lean into the pitch more.

She's flying great. At field now. Adjusted the gov gain on my Spartan. See how that makes her feel. 20% rotor rage. She rich just under 2 turns but flying nice. Have the MOAS pickup but still runs out at 1/4 tank. Made for a scary piroflip

When using the MOAS you need to be sure that you're using the right clunk line or it'll just float. Personally, I've had zero issues with the stock clunk or the OS clunk. Both will dry out the tank.

Using Lynx clunk line and have a bearing on the clunk nipple for extra weight too. Just seems to start running lean the last 1/4. Maybe clunk line has small hole? It does drain tank completely when I attach a hose and gravity siphon the fuel out of tank back into jug for maintenance.
