Nothing at all but that is what this thread is all about just post up whatever you want. Jointer started this last year when the forum was pretty quiet... but now with us not being a sub forum any more there is a lot more traffic here and plenty to read and discuss.

Well, i was hoping the discussion about taxes and stuff like that will move here...
I have done some nasty hijacks here on the forum, but taxes, weather and resources info in thread about a new motor? Too much for me.

I do want to talk about that with other members occasionally, but it should not pollute technical threads.
I do not know how others, but since the traffic here is higher every month, i do not visit regularly any other HF section, only sometimes Vbar or JLog sections.
Every morning i see dozen of new posts here and following it is sometimes time consuming.

I think he is tied up with his business and got back into sailing... at least that's what I read last when he was making his last run of NACA ducts...

Hey Jointer what are taxes like over there in the Czech?

I am sure you will not like that.

We have VAT of 20% on everything, except some basic stuff like food, where it is 14%.
Our state debt is about 42% of GDP, i am employed and that means in general about 44-46% of the money i "make" is going back to the state as various tax.
It depends on the salary; of course the more you make the more % you pay back.
The population is about 10 mil.
BTW, our oil price is now almost exactly 2$/liter of both benzin or diesel.
Google says 1 gallon is 3.78 liters.
The average salary is around 1000-1200 USD/month (before taxing).

And all that means we are healthy state in the middle of the EU with no issues and good chance of raising GDP in the future (politicans says). At the same time the German/Austrian neighbours make 3-5x time more money with the same prices of stuff/goods.

How it is in the SC?

I can tell you in australia we oay over 50% in reality. After the 30 odd percent on income there is gst 10% on almost everything you buy and petrol and alcohol taxed heavily as well.

Hey Rob, I asked myself the same thing when I saw the post (What does it have to do with this thread?) -- even though this *is* the Off Topic thread. No offense to Howking, but IMO it was so off topic that no one even knew what to say...

Kind of like when someone farts at church. Or in a bank lobby.

The usual response is... nothing. No one says a word. (I think faces tell a different story though ).

So... kind of the same thing happened here, no one has said anything here for 1.5 months!

Ha! In case you didn't see it, I posted the message below on the 4540 thread:

I propose that we move the discussion about life in the USA, or anything else OT, to jointer's thread (Silence! aka all things OT). Last page is here:
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...317983&page=12

Just about everyone has hijacked a thread before -- not meaning to really throw things off course... but hey, I like that we can go OT on this thread. And (I think) no one will get mad about it.

SC isn't bad. We pay 6% sales tax in some parts of he state except in Columbia and Charleston I believe its 8%... probably bc Columbia is the capital and Charleston is a huge tourist area. I'm paying about $3.65/gal in fuel and I drive a Honda Accord, cost me about $60 USD to fill up and thats a lot for that car  As for Federal tax about 30% of your salary goes to those guys.

Man as much as I love Europe I don't know if I could stand 44% tax.

What the hell; not again!

ElectricSheep: Yeah, i noticed the post in 4540 thread.

And the taxes... the employee income tax is 15%, BUT there is health and pension "insurance" subtracted from the salary... and the 44% is combined load of all taxes.
BTW Australia does not look so bad...

It is bit lighter then TDR, it have a bit less solid construction imho (plastic-plastic gears) and classic 1 stage gearing; i also think i mentioned it in some other thread some time ago.

I cannot say it on our czech forums, but i think it is ugly, not as well engineered as TDR, with some strange things in the construction, BUT it does fly TDR-ish, which is probably because of the low weight.
No interest in it (the only LA product which i would get is Ricco).
I almost agree, but it does not fly as TDR, because nothing fly as TDR ! LA700 fly almost as Logo 600. I saw LA700 last week at a meeting and it was for me absolutely uninteresting. I like Logo 600 much much more.

Between federal, Social Security, state, and the extra 4% New York City takes in income tax, I generally figure 40-45% of my income goes to someone else. For me Europe doesn't sound so bad (especially if health care is included).

P.S. Our sales tax is a hair under 9%. Maybe I should move to Delaware.

That's a good point when you look at like that... any way you spin we all pay a heck of a lot in taxes! Good thing we have our TDR's to keep us happy

Don't even get me started on Argentine taxes. I don't even care about the %, most of the money we pay is robbed in corruption schemes, outrageous social plans which are cover fronts for further robbing, arranged public bank loans, you name it. Our money goes down the toilet!

Our government pays for $600 toilet seats, receives $20 ones, gets $200 back from the manufacturer as a bribe and shits on my door front.
