Default Torn between 2 Scorpions

The (stock) 5035 380kv or the new 4540 400kv?

Both will be on 14s + kosmik esc.

The reason im hesitant about stock motor is because it's cheaper (lower quality) and because i associate (stock) with under powered, dont ask me why.

What do you guys think?

I ordered my 4540-400 yesterday. Mainly because I want the option of 16s. Also, I guess I'm hoping for a little more grunt as well.

Working on getting a yge 160 set up for 16s now.

There are other kits that would follow that model of poor power systems stock.

I'm quite happy with the stock power system. I tend to build overpowered machines to help compliment my cyclic management.

I'm not sure how a different model made by the same manufacturer would be of inferior quality.

The piro/kosmic combo is said to be more efficient of a setup, but at a hefty price tag.

Of course the 400 kv would open the door to go to a 16s setup. (more costs for motor and esc update here also )

If you haven't tried the stock setup , I'd suggest you give it a try with some good packs to back it up. You may well be quite pleased with it in the ' stock ' form.

Worth noting that Mikado as a brand aren't ones to cheap out on components , and this power system was specifically designed for the 800 release. The 800 release being a whole new class of machine at the time. Some high stakes for a big $$ machine. I feel they did there homework.

More power will always be out there for a premium in cost. It's more of a personal choice sometimes.

Well I am certainly interested in more power especially with this heavy bird.

Besides the Scorpion site who else is selling the 4540 400kv?

I haven't received my kit yet. It will be the heli kit (no motor to try) and not the combo and I plan on using the kosmik esc.

The stock motor will do 16s as well. I verified it with Georges at IRCHA two years ago. I also ran my XXtreme 800 that way for almost a year before I sold it. The one I have now will take the same path

I have plans to use the same stock motor with the kosmik 200. I believe the kosmik can push more current into the motor plus its internal gov will unleash more power.
