Battery hits the motor shaft
just wanted to check with you all, I can't get my battery to move further back in the frame as it'll hit the motor shaft (Logo 500se, scorpion 4020-1100, 6s 5000mah). is this normal?
I wonder how you guys fit the 12s if the the motor shaft is blocking the way. is it just this particular motor shaft? |

I fly 12s on a L600. Me, typcial 3000-3300 6 spacks in series fit fine with enough room for a batttery plate under and over for protection, without hitting the motor shaft (scorp 4035-500). The only packs that I dont buy are the short stubby ones that are short+tall such that they just clear but could not sit under the motor shaft. I have two 6s 3000 stubbies, that being said, so one aft, the other at the nose (no batt plate).
You can shorten the shaft on the motor -- one of the guys I fly w trimmed the scorp motor shaft for use on his TDR (scorp -500 motor same as mine). You need to wrap the motor really well in plastic to prevent any metal filings from getting to the motor if you do that.

@santini: thanks for the info. yupe it seems the 3000 packs fit ok, the 5000s are pretty stubby.
I'm keen to know what the other L500/L500se flyers with 6s setup do about this and what batteries they use. Mine are Turnigy 6s 5000mah 40c packs. |

I use Nano-Tech 6S 4500mAh packs in series and had to trim my motor shaft. It's not a big deal, just wrap the motor like Santini said and use a rotary tool with a heavy duty cut-off disc.

Cut excess shaft? I ran Turnigy 25c 35c 5000mah packs no issues on my 5003d.

I use Voltz 5100 mah packs and they fit under the motor with ease.
I did trim the shaft, but didn't need to, to fit the packs. Just didn't want it piercing the pack in a crash, didn't help though Darin

Put the motor in a Ziploc bag, zip it closed, then push the motor shaft through the bottom of the bag. Then you only have to wrap the shaft with tape (of course overlapping the plastic bag, and tape it well) -- and you won't have a bunch of metal shavings in your motor.

Yep, works great! Be careful with the motor shaft, it gets insanely hot after only a few seconds of cutting. Ask me how I know...

For the 6s guys, if you widen the battery opening(only the opening) you can fit 40c 5000mAh turnigy's in there, even with a counterbearing.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by widening the battery opening. Can you please elaborate a bit more on how you do this?

The battery compartment is wide enough for a 40c, only the opening in the front of the frame isnt.. cut the opening wider and you're done.

Cheers. I somehow manage to get the 40c battery to get into the frame without modifying the frame, but It can't fit further back in the frame as the motor shaft is blocking the way
