Default 11X DSMX Update Safe?

I purchased a 11X in Jan 2011 and have been holding off on the free update to DSMX to see if there are any initial bugs. Is it safe to send in now for the upgrade? Is Horizon done with the initial batch at this point? Anyone else send their 11X in yet? If so how was the service?

I sent my 11X in a two weeks ago and everything works fine. All the models and settings were still in memory (you should back up to the SD card though.) I selected the 2nd day delivery return option and had my 11X within a week of sending it out. Horizon indicates it could take 10 days for the DSMX add-on but mine was done the same day they received it and according to the service order it took less than 10 min. to do the update. A new faceplate for the screen was installed with the "X" logo in the corner. It was shipped out the next day and I had it by the end of the week. I had to rebind my receivers and check the setup but everything works fine.

Since you bought your 11X in Jan., make sure you send in a copy of your receipt to get a refund. I had the refund credited to my card within 2 days of the 11X being sent back to me.

I don't know if my experience in typical but I couldn't ask for better service, way to go Horizon.

That's good to hear. I'll send mine in next month when I'll be on the road. Hopefully the radio will be done and back by the time I return. Thanks for the good info.

Double check your servo settings after the DSMX upgrade. I sent my 12X in for the upgrade and all the models came back still stored, but there were a few issues with endpoints having changed a bit.

Got mine back in about 9 days from when I shipped it. Other than having to rebind, which I expected, everything has been perfect.

Default Shipping Packing

Hi Guys-

I'm glad to hear the DSMX upgrade was pretty smooth. I was thinking of doing this later. How did you guys pack up your 11x for shipping? Did you use the same box with the styrofoam inserts? Did you ship it with the battery?

Did you get all of the packing materials back? I.e. did you get the box and styro back? Not a big deal, but I was just wondering. Thanks!

Dave

I shipped it without the battery and removed the SD card. My box was buried somewhere so I wrapped the radio well in bubble wrap. They used the same bubble wrap and put in my box, then put that in another box to ship it back.

Just one thought, there are a small number of reports of problems with AR61xx and AR62xx receivers when using them with transmitters that are either native with DSMX like the dx8 or recently upgraded to DSMX.

If you make use of these receivers you might want to hold off upgrading until the problem is resolved.

Unconfirmed comments from Horizon offices outside the USA refer to an update to correct a problem with these receivers not responding quickly enough to the slightly faster DSM2 implementation in radios that support DSMX.

The 11X and 12X look like the only DSMX transmitters not listed in the just released DSMX Product Bulletin from Horizon. I hope they are actually OK.

If my 11X has the X logo in the top right corner of the screen placard can I assume it has DSMX already?

I bought it May 18th.

Yes, the X logo signifies it's DSMX compatible. The previous version had the DSM2 logo in the upper right.
