Default Advise on P, I gains and opto cable on Scorpion 160 opto ESC

Hello everyone. Just got my first commander 160 opto. No previous experience of using scorpion ESCs being CC user . I'm setting it up on logo 800 with Vbar silver line. I'm hesitant to use vbar governor because one of our fellow flyer had twice a similar bad experience of wrecking his helis because he used vbar governor. The ESCs just died after two to three flights in the air (obviously no plausible explanation) . But with courtesy of scorpion, both ESCs were replaced being in warranty. He shifted to commander governor now and since then all is fine. Therefore I need to know if someone else had issues similar to this. Could it be opto cable problems. So please put me wise on use of P and I gains and what's the use and requirements of opto cable with any FBL
Thanks

Mine is working fine on Vbar gov...

You need the opto cable to use the internal RPM sensor for the Vbar...

Not sure on the gains as I use the VBar gov...

I have used the Vbar gov with the Scorpion 160. Works amazing. I have since switched to the internal gov as it is simpler to wire and sufficient for me.

I find the defualts of 5 & 5 to be great of my Protos max. That heli is all belts though so may be a little different. Other TT helis I have found that slightly higher numbers work. It all depends on the heli, equipment and set up.

Try the defaults first. If needed go up 1 point at a time on P gain until you are satisfied. Then move to I gain if needed and do the same.

Careful on TT helis as an over gain can cause havock on the gears if the hunting is aggressive enough. If you get any hunting of motor or tail youhave gone to high. Careful though not to confuse a tail gain hunt with gov gain hunt. Tune your tail first.
