Default Questions on FBL 600NP

I am finally getting some time to fly. I am getting back in the sport. I would like to finish up my Trex 600NP. I am thinking going FBL. I have a few questions about products and flight characteristics.

Products
I am think the align Gpro for a FBL cotroller. Is this the best choice or should I consider something else?
Should I buy a head IČ RC FBL600A-PRO 600 Class High Performance Flybarless Rotor Head or buy parts from align and rebuild my present head?

Flight Characteristics
Being a novice still and learning to fly should I go FBL?
How different do FBL versus flybar fly?

Thanks
Shannon

I love FBL, but be aware that like everything with heli's, there's a learning curve and you'll need to spend a bit of time setting it up.

I personally wouldn't go for the align Gpro, there have been teething problems with it and while they're relatively minor, Align aren't a company with a great reputation for FBL units. There are better and cheaper options out there.

I'm using Spartan these days, they're pretty cheap, have a really easy setup wizard, and come with default settings for any size heli that will get you up and flying really easily.

BeastX also have a good reputation for being easy to setup, but I haven't used one personally.

If you're in a flying club, you may be worth asking what people there fly, there's a lot to be said for going with something other people can help you set up when you're first starting.

Going FBL was the key for me to start really having more fun. I started feeling more confident right away. The precision is superb. It can be tuned to be docile, or wild. You choose. Personally, I think it's easier for most folks to learn the software setup with less emphasis on precision linkage setups than the other way around with flybars. I doubt you will regret it, and much more likely, it will be the best thing you could do to get a nice flying bird that is more predictable, and handles all flight modes easier.

I am look for a DFC head. What would be the best one to buy to replace my stock align head?

Thanks

Both VX1n and VX1e will work well and have practically identical performance.

The VX1n has better quality sensors and requires the DataPod for operation. It can also connect to the computer software using the USB port on the DataPod.

The VX1e has built in USB port and thus the initial cost is cheaper though most people eventually buy a DataPod due to the convenience it offers.

You can ask the Club Spartan thread if you would like some opinions from people using these systems. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...9449&page=1111

Cheers,
Angelos

Thanks Angelos,
I am not going to go cheap so I will by the VX1n and the data pod. If the sensors are better than that is what my bird deserves. Thanks for helping me find my way.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. I put a Spartan on a Trex 250 and watched the default settings knock spots off the 3GX. My little 250 is piro flipping like the sim now.

If I had the budget I'd have a Spartan on both my 600's, love the ease of use, and love how it flies.

I am looking to buy a spartan VX1n. One come with a remote sensor. Do I need that or not? I haven't found much to tell me when I would need the remote sensor.

I believe I know the answer but does the spartan VX1n replace the tail gyro?

The VX1n has all the sensors integrated into the unit, you don't need a remote sensor.

And this is a full FBL controller, so yes, it replaces the tail gyro as well as the flybar.
