I think the simple solution is to let rx warm up for five minutes, unplug and plug back in rx. Or just put up with drift for first flight.
I have a mini cp rx on the way. I will fabricate a mount and try it in genius. Also check out its gyros temps and placement on pcb. I see the from the gyro data sheet vdd is like 2 - 3.5 volts or so. Maybe gyro is running hot but it does appear to have a current limiting resistor. Maybe its the atmel on other side of pcb heating gyro. The gyro chip does have an on board temp sensor, couldn't see on data that it is actualy used for anything. Maybe Walkera missed something in that department. Time may tell. Dave |

Those that own a genius with left drift problem can test my theory.
Remove canopy and plug rx in and let warm up for 8 minutes, with canopy still off quickly unplug and plug back in rx before it has a chance to cool and fly heli. The airflow over rx should be enough to cool it a few degrees and give a right drift. The gyro being so sensitive to temp it may never behave for some. Heat soak under canopy from fet motor and the like may mean temp under canopy might never be consistant. Dave |

for what its worth
mini cp gyro is out on very corner of rx well away from other components that may produce heat, unlike genius. ambient temp 22, gyro peaked at 27 degrees, huge difference, see previous posts. my genius with telemetry 41 gram, 10% lighter than mini cp rx removed from mini cp, no drift in mini, no drift in genius. cheers edit: scales say 40g, motor does not have temp sensor, have one on the way. the GT (genius with telemetry) flies exstremely well.
i think i can trim a gram off heli to keep weight at 40g with temp sensor. with the stock 200mA cell it seems to go good at this weight. have a good one Dave |

GT is now 10% lighter and smaller than a mini cp.
Rx mount. screws into same location as cf plate. is small and light. |

mini cp with genius motor, main gear and canopy = 40g = 8 minute flights

Genius CP is underway, can not wait
Well Bob you got me convinced,
The Genius is a very nice heli and with the right setup it flies well. I ordered one and also ordered the the new MCPX tail rotor (KBDD) together with the unbreakable V2 canopy, can not wait to fly. I will use your settings and setup, and want to thank you for all your explanations and movies you've made on this heli. Regards, Danny

F.Y.I. Trexpro,
The V2 canopy is NOT unbreakable. Just less breakable. |

Yes I know, but certainly stronger than the stock canopy. And fortunately they only cost a few dollars

My GCP is pretty much rock solid and as docile indoors as in the video, I am using Devo7 with TomZ's settings in 6 axis mode! |

Hi all, I am taking the plunge to cp moving from fp. I decided on the genius cp w/ devo 10. I got the brushless pro set up from wow hobby. I really hope that in normal mode with gentle throttle/pitch curves it will even come close to a stable hover as in those vids. Reading John Salts books while I wait for the heli to arrive. I am also waiting on the new WLtoys V922 cp, I ordered it first thinking it would be easy to learn on but now I think the other way round.
I am self teaching so will start with traing gear. If any body has any advive for an old newbie send it my way. Thanks in advance Jack Herrmann |

Walkera CP Genius V2 Beginner
Hi everyone, can someone help me with this? I am so new with the 6 Ch heli, I just bought a CP Genius V2 yesterday. Out of the box, with Devo 7E, had the Tx set up as instructed, but as soon as I put the throttle up, it starts to spin out of control, tried using the trim and have not help at all.
Can anyone advice on what I need to correct this, please? Thank you |
