I have one on pre-order with the motor but something is troubling me. If you do the math on what RH has published for the gears that come with it (212t main & 20t pinion), the head speed calculates very low on 6S. That's a gear ratio of 10.6:1. That gives a head speed of only 1900rpm at 85% if my calculations are right.

1070 * 22.2 / 10.6 * .85 = 1904

Maybe I'm going to want to order another pinion as that seems really low to me.

My choice would be 18T mod .7 pinion with the 153T mod.7 main gear

Yah some other guys came up with that too. Seems to be a show stopper.
If you went with the MOD .5 main gear with matching pinion would the HS be higher?

Yah this is weird,
This is with 212 main and 20T pinion. 2080 doesn't seem very Xxtreme LOL.

Result for calculation:
Estimated lowest voltage during flight: 20,34
Lowest RPM (due to voltage and efficiency) : 1847

Throttle 60%: 1852
Throttle 65%: 1909
Throttle 70%: 1966
Throttle 75%: 2023
Throttle 80%: 2080
Throttle 85%: 2138
Throttle 90%: 2195
Throttle 95%: 2252

My only questions are price and weight compared to my ultralight logo500. I halfway expect it will be heavier than my 500 simply because it has carbon frames. Either way, it looks interesting.

Mikado have always provided a smaller than ideal pinion in their motor kits though. The 550SX and 500 super-combo kits show this. I'm assuming the idea is that out of the box it will fly well but not go beyond their design specifications.

Or perhaps Mikado wants us to learn some collective management

I think they should have opted for the mod 0.7 gearing as it gives a much wider range of ratios than the mod 0.5

IF I get one, I wouldn't even bother with the mod0.5 and I would install the 0.7 from the beginning.

In my case, tomorrow I am going to change my pre-order to the bare kit without motor and buy the 4015-1450 motor. At 1450kv the math for this helicopter makes much more sense.

I'm curious about the 480Xx too BUT what does it offer me, other than the driven tail, my 400SE Mod 0.7, 2600mAh 8S, Pyro 600-09, 86mm tails and 2500HS doesn't?

If the new Mod 0.5 herringbone pinions are anything like the 800Xx pinions were in the early days then availability of different pinion sizes will be an issue for some time. The 700Xx gave a few more choices due to commonality of shaft diameter of pinion between the 700Xx and 800Xx.

I'm pretty sure they're using the shaft/oneway/gears from the 500 and 600. However, last time I checked they only had 2 different mod0.5 pinions for that gear.

They have more than two mod0.5 pinion sizes on their website but I also think it is the same main gear as the 500 and 600, if it is then mod0.7 maybe the way to go.

Am I missing something?
Logo 500 MOD 0.5 is 212 T

Logo 480 says

I'd love to review this heli since I was recently wondering if a carbon framed 400se could be built using the 600 mechanics and come out lighter than my 500. I suspect the largest difference (if I'm right) is that the Logo480xx has a much smaller and lighter canopy but I suspect the frames are heavier.
