I misunderstood the this qestion.."3# Starting the Helicopter Via Clutch/Belt assembly, are there anychances with compression etc when starting the belt could Slip and strip?. "

I thought it was saying it started like the older hirobo shuttle that had a belt that went around the cone on your starter.

I don't want to speak on behalf of Will, but I can only assume he isn't too happy about your advertisement techniques.

Jaguar, I hear you. I am eager to start seeing these kits out there too. It'd be nice to see Razors at events

well im a bit late but ive got some questions of my own..

1. you say that there are many available gear ratios for the razor, what one are you running and what ones will be available for the glow version?
2. what is the t/r to m/r ratio?
3. im assuming yes, but do you need a 1 way bearing in the starter to start the heli?

finally, any more videos of the glow version? ive only found two, the oc bob funfly and the original introduction.

perhaps a stupid question, but what about the normal fury canopy's? would they fit nicely on the razor? (I personally don't really like the current canopy. no offence)

No the current Fury or Stratus canopy will not fit on the Razor. Those canopies are larger than the mechanics of the Razor <G>

Still no canopy pictures? I haven't checked the forum for a while, so if they were already posted, can someone direct me to where they are?

If your talking about the gear ratio question on the Nitro. I believe it is 8.7 to 1. The rotor head is turning 2100 plus. The motor is turning 18000 rpm plus.

another question, wouldnt that be overly hard on the engine and shorten its lifespan?

i am taking that they are running a OS50 Hyper.

All i can say is WOW, running a HS of 2100 on a gear ratio of 8.7 is unheard of! I think the 18000rpm on the crank is WAY too much, That would be like my running my OS91sz on a 9.3ratio and trying to get a HS of 2000! :?

any mods done to that engine that you know of?

Here is the rpm specs for the OS 50 Hyper

Practical rpm range: 2,000-20,000
Output:1.9 hp @ 17,000 rpm

So 18K is right in the ball park of being in the power band. Nothing special about the Hyper being used in the Nitro Razor. All the Hyper 50's I have helped get running seem to like to run in the 18K rpm range.

Yes you will need a one way bearing in the start shaft or an MA flex shaft to start the Nitro Razor.

I am not sure on the tail ratio on the Razor. I would think it is similar to the other MA helis and is in 4.66 to 1 range. That puts the tail rotor turning 9500 to 10K rpm with a main rotor rpm of 2000-2100.

There is quiet a few gear ratios available for the Razor. I saw the list and there was about 12 different ratios on it.

18K rpm on the Hyper 50 is right in the heart of its operating range. It will not be hard on the engine or shorten its life span from my experience with the Hyper.

Thanks for helping Dave, I missed his questions.

I'd like to elaborate on the fact that the final gear ratio for the glow version has not determined yet. We have been flying it with 8.72:1, but we're not sure that will be the final ratio used. We are still going to test other ratios.

The tail rotor to main rotor ratio is indeed 4.66:1 like David stated.

another question now

will the canopy come pre cut to fit the pipes or will that need to be done for you? do all pipes (50 size of course) fit or just select ones?
