Default canopy Home Roll

Preparing to join Warp owners club and while waiting I have started to CAD up a TDR look alike cano for the Warp. Mainly because I am odd enough to love the shape and I fly one as my main bird, but I also thought to facilitate a little more movement of the packs for CoG purposes. Also to maybe allow slightlt larger packs for those out to stretch their warps. It being such a small canopy, the design and milling work to produce a plug to mold from is not large undertaking like the TDR speed fuselage I started but had to abandon for lack of time and incentive now that Jan is producing a speed machine. If anyone is interested in a TDR like canopy or have any good ideas around this subject, please feel free to let me know!

Since Helihaven has been rebuilding my Warp to a narrower spec( maingear 34mm)I've been looking for a skinny canopy!I'm also going to run it stretched (385/420 blades)so I'm interested in your project!

I'd like to see what you have in mind. The TDR look is pretty slick.

Been swamped with work but here is a little progress report!! Please do not pay any mind to imperfections in the surface, just working on the general shape as of yet!

You are either going to have to stretch it slightly or move it forward. By appearance there is still little room up on top of the tray for any electronics. But you gained some batt space.

Wish I had the Cad program. I spent weeks carving my own blanks for mine.

LMH, thanks for the input! I do not have access to a Warp so the diagrams from the manual will have to suffice for now. Maybe some friendly soul with a warp could post a few pics of their warp without the canopy from the side, front and top. I can then import them into my CAD program and continue tweaking!

Looks great! Can't wait to see it once completed and in the air.

Just a thought, the TDR is capable of some quite amazing knife edge passes due to, in my analysis two factors. The canopy has a quite large profile which helps and it is airfoil shaped when seen from above. The rather large cano also aids presence which is not bad either. I will draw up another version with the above input in mind.

Here is a side profile... I can get you one from the front later (don’t have one) and really any angle you would like. Just PM me and let me know what angles you need and I'll get them for you.

Also, you can go to the pictures stick, you can probably find quite a selection up there.

BTW... I'm liking.

Thank you!!
This shot will be very helpful! Could someone please post the approximate width of the mechanics with all electronics installed? I would like to set some reference pointers for getting the width of the canopy right!

Here ya go! A front shot, and another with a few measurements superimposed over the picture. Let me know any other measurements you need.

Also, please forgive the appearance... I have not ordered the parts to fix my failed maiden yet. Ski season... you understand.

Hi donskills,

I have always wanted a TDR but too poor to afford one. The cad looks excellent. Maybe a slight changes to the skid is in order too cos skids look a bit too short for the bigger canopy...

My 2 cents...

Cheers

Thnx guys for all the info! Excuse my silence, I have been crazy busy but I am back on it again! The skids is a easy one, all I need is the exact hole distance and I can easily cad up a few suggestions! Stay tune, I will be back up with some new pics asap.

It would be cool if you can do TDR stile skids... with the CF strut and an Aluminum or Delrin tube. I personally dont think they need to be any taller.

Greets BR! That would be no problem!! Could you please supply me with one of your excellent photos (with dimensions) of one skid plate? The length of the plate where it attaches to the mechanics and the hole distance are of most importance. I guess a pair of regular 450 size skid pipes would be just about right or maybe some cut down 500 skid pipes?
