A lot of guys I know think these challenges are child's play. Only when they try to do them does it surprise them how difficult slow and controlled can be.

Good job!

Bob

Why do you think I haven't posted one yet? Cuz I suck at flying that's why

I'm doing the hovering challenges at the end of every flight these days. Last flight I filmed though, I destroyed my Trex 500... not looking to repeat that experience

Hehe... yeah it was pretty ugly.

Today we have a huge fun fly - our club is hosting the AMA "District 9" fun fly. Hopefully there's some helis out there - I'll see if I can get people to do the challenges. If I make it that is... I'm stuck at home right now doing some software testing after a weekend upgrade, and it's not going well. I hate it when my servers aren't happy.

Just found this forum. Just found these threads. Good work to all.
I am working on a lot of this stuff. It is good to see where I have more work to do and where I have acquired a small bit of skill.

I was hoping that these challenges would stay basic for one or two more. But I see that three jumped right to upside down.

Maybe we could get some challenges on figure eights? Horizontal, in the four orientations? Then maybe flying them like the box challenge, or while doing slow piros?

Maybe a challenge on vertical figure eights? Same orientation stuff, but now with a pitch component thrown in? Maybe a vertical figure eight like the box challenge (kind of a Cuban Eight)?

Everything nice and slow?

I think videos of these basics would be fun to do and I know I would like to watch them.

Sounds good Oldeflyer,

You start the thread and post the first Challenge, and I'll give it a try

snjbird,
I didn't mean me! I can't even do nose in well enough to make it safe!

I need videos of people doing the basics so I have something to shoot for.

Your post gave me a good laugh, though.

oldeflyer, if you are interested in other upright hovering and FF challenges, why don't you try the IRCHA training levels. Level One has several challenges you might enjoy.

Grok,
Thanks for the link. I think I have seen that before.

What I was interested in was videos of the basic stuff, like in the first two challenges. To see how it SHOULD look. Got any links to those. I have tried the videos of the simulations and they were OK, but not like real flight.

Not meaning to hijack the thread. I will keep looking.

Go to youtube and search for "rc heli hovering". Not enough. Try heli specific searches like "raptor 50 hover" or "trex 600 hovering". This thread has a list of beginner heli flying vids.
