I have both a 600sx and a 690sx.
The 690 is a smooth easy to fly 700. It's not a speed machine but is extremely stable and makes me more confident in my flying.

Both are fantastic. It would be a tough choice between the two. Sometimes I prefer the 600 and others days the 690

690SX with 690mm mains is a better 3D trainer. More stability and lots of hang time allows you to break down 3D manoeuvres more easily. Limited power system options, due to physical limits of the air frame.

600SX with 600mm mains can be immensely over powered and over sped into a monster 600 if that's your cup of tea.

A 600SX with 620-640mm mains or a 690SX with 670mm mains are good middle grounds between the above.

I vote 690 all the way.
More collective thrust, more cyclic control power, better tail authority and longer flight time than the 600, that's at least how it was for me.
690 SX at 2000rpm/11° collective outperformed 600SX at 2250rpm/14° collective.

Not one single negative about either.
