12th LMAC Heli Fly-In
Sept. 13th - 15th, 2013

Right off of I64

The 13th is also a setup day but guests can start flying. It's in full swing by Saturday. Some are there as early as Thursday night and we welcome them.

Lunch served both days. $20 landing fee, free to spectators, pilot prizes. $100 prize for auto contest, otherwise open flying. Scale, 3D, FAI or just hovering, come fly with us!

On site RV camping is available. Electric is available for up to eight RV spots. Otherwise no hook ups. We would like to know if you are camping because one person on site will need a copy of the gate key.

There are several hotels in the area. These are the two I know to have had positive feedback:

The Sleep Inn is in Hamburg Pavilion. A new and large shopping area in Lexington and is surrounded by restaurants and shops. There is also has a large movie theater nearby. You can have pets for an extra fee. Probably the best hotel if you want to bring your family.

There is also a Holiday Inn Express and several other hotels on Elkhorn Rd. It is at the closest exit to I64. I would recommend the Holiday Inn Express of the hotels on that exit. There are not many restaurants at that exit.

Thanks to Tony's advice, we will plan on having a Saturday night dinner at the field. The event has grown too large to round up those who want to eat out as a group. Some inadvertently don't get asked. Its like herding cats. Plus last year we were too late getting back which hurt the night fly. I don't want to promise things and then not be able to deliver, but we should be able to bring in a very large professional grill.

We welcome all advice and suggestions. Still early in the planning. Can't guarantee I can make everyone happy but eager to listen. Just send me a pm.

This event sounds like it will be a good time! What is required to attend, I see you mention guests. Do we need to be LMAC or AMA members?

You do need to be an AMA member to fly. That's required by the club. No need to be a club member. There is a $20 pilot fee that includes pilot prize tickets as well as Saturday food and drinks. It should be a lot of fun this year.

Bill is off overseas somewhere and has left me to grab up the reigns!!!!We are so excited about this years event and any donations we will be giving out. Scorpion is sponsoring us this year I understand and we have a helicopter kit from TSA models and Nigel To be raffled. Am trying to line up more prizes this week. Scale reproductions hobby has committed to kick in something nice and Adventure RC aka Hobby World has promised to be a large part of our weekend. I'm still working on the Hardcore guys to pull away from their projects for a bit to come be with us. It's a true fun fly and ALL about the fun. Please everyone come and have some fun with us!!!!!
