Default Bay Area - Need Help Building My TREX 500

Hey Everyone,

I live in the Bay Area and new to flying. I've been on the sim for a while and ready to make the leap into reality.

I'm looking for someone I can pay to help build my TREX 500 and also might be willing for me to pay for some in-person lessons.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the hobby!

Have you checked your local hobby shop? Most will have someone that can help with a build and can probably point you to someone to give lessons.

There is also a great post https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=531380 that talk about a training program to learn the basics (figure 8s, flips, rolls, etc.).

Lastly, I would suggest finding a local flying field or club. There is likely to be someone there that can help. Also over time it is much more fun to fly with people than to fly by yourself, so that is a good start.

Good luck!

I live in East Bay and fly at Livermore Flying Electrons. I would be happy to help you set up your 500 and answer some questions. There are several helpful helicopter pilots around the area.

PM me if you like to meet up.

Welcome!

Where are you located in the Bay Area? I would suggest joining one of the clubs, lots of helpful people willing to share their expertise. There are 3 clubs I know of: Morgan Hill, Half Moon Bay and the Livermore club Steve mentioned above. I also heard there's a large gathering of RC people at Sunnyvale Baylands on the weekends, although I don't know how many heli pilots attend.
