Darn. I think there may be a limit on times you can edit a post, and I've reached it lol. Hopefully I won't just have to redo the whole post.

Copying and pasting is such a pain!

Great thread sbillingham.
There is a 15 day edit limit here on Helifreak.
If you would like to edit or add to your post send TowPilot a PM and he can
edit or add to whatever you like for your post. He does this for my posts also.

Thanks for linking my setup guides.

That's great info, Tom. And thank YOU for your setup guides! Couldn't have gotten off the ground without them, I do believe!

A big thank you to TowPilot for dealing with all my edit requests! Added a link to Rideveer's GCP to Mini CP conversion guide and added credit where credit was due.

Happy Flying!

Just adding this link as it's relevant to my head rebuild and the Minius head rebuild:

I've found the #003 O-Rings in 90 Dura Nitrile rather than 75 Dura Viton HERE:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051XYL2E/ref=biss_dp_t_asn
I use the 75 Dura Viton ones with mCPX bronze washers; they work very nicely. I think these should provide a slightly firmer head even, provided they don't make the grip bearings crunchy.

mnem
Crunchy. But not good with ketchup.

I just ordered up the 75d bag of 100 myself. Still in the air. Waiting patiently to hear an opinion of which is better. Obviously stiffer is better performance wise. Softer is better because will help keep other parts from breaking. Do you use o-rings to stiffen up a servo saver mod? I tried the not cut all the way through saver mod, but it still toasted a servo.

I really like the feel of the head with the 75 durometer #003 o-rings; it is STILL considerably firmer than the stock setup. I don't know if the 90 durometer ones will go together without making the grip bearings go crunchy, and I doubt I'll be a good enough pilot to NEED that extra firmness for a long time. Like... anytime before I use up a whole baggie of the 75/#003 o-rings.

I don't use the servo-saver mod at all; I've broken 3 servos all told since I bought the heli. Now that I'm in the neighborhood of having an actual helicopter instead of a suicidal hummingbird, I'm probably going to either start hacking the $5 cheaper Mini FP WK-02-5 servos with the control boards out of my old Genius CP WK-02-4 servos, or I'm going to try the HK-5320 / HK-5330 servo mod.

At $3.44 each, sure is an attractive option; even if I do have to make some shims to fit them and reverse them internally. Well, reverse two of them; they're normally reversed for the Genius, so the Pitch servo can stay stock. Oh, and you have to swap the ground & signal wires at the plug on all of 'em; takes about 30 seconds. Easy-peasy, and you only need to make the shims once. Downside is you kindof have to change them ALL at once to keep response times uniform.

Before long, there'll be nothing left that's Genius except the mainboard...

I can live widdat.

If you travel with a Devo-6 (or similar?) radio, you can remove the back and flip the hand bracket so it is much more flush and easier to ship for those of you who can't seem to leave the birds at home.

Everyone!
Make this change the next time you have to get a new frame/skids for your Genius. Same amount of work and only left over part is the GCP servo holder. Cost less and will save $ in long term. Haven't bought a skid or frame ($3-$4 ea) since, GCP frame $12-$13. The frame is solid as a rock as compared to the GCP frame. I can't say enough about this mod. Only odd ball is the servo link and you just need to get a longer rod that you can put the dog leg in. P/N above worked, snip to length, screw on one end as normal and CA/hot glue the other.

Hope this thread is still active. Can you describe the mods you did to mount the RX tray? Did you have to add support under it? Also, how long is that custom pushrod overall?
